It just goes to show, there’s no such thing as “a sure thing” in Hollywood. While shows like Gilmore Girls and Everwood have been nervously wondering if they were going to be renewed, the cast and crew of Reba McEntire’s Reba could just relax. After all, the show is the highest rated sitcom on the WB and besides, the show was renewed for two seasons last year. No worries, right?
Not so. When the UPN/WB merger was announced earlier this year, it’s said that CBS’ leader Les Moonves sent word that the new CW network would honor the rest of the two-year commitment. With that in mind, the Reba cast and crew wrapped their shooting according to schedule on March 14, 2006.
In a surprising move a few weeks later, CW executives reportedly told Fox (who produces the show) that they wanted to cancel the deal because the show doesn’t attract their “desired demographic.” Fox supposedly rejected the request and it’s likely that if the CW still wants out, it will come at a costly price.
The season finale of Reba (episode 112 and entitled “Reba’s Heart”) aired on May 5, 2006. It was originally shot as a cliffhanger but after word of the potential cancellation was released, the episode was re-edited.
Though Reba has not been officially cancelled, it would be surprising to see it on the CW Fall schedule. Still, it is the highest-rated sitcom on the WB and the similarly rated 7th Heaven was cancelled, aired a series finale, and has now been resurrected and renewed for Fall. So, as I said, there’s no such thing as a sure thing in Hollywood. Stay tuned!
Reba is a awsome show I have watch it for a long time and enjoy it very much, done end it , today there isn’t alot of family show and Reba is one that stand out
I can’t believe I am even doing this, but after watching what I think was the “finale” of the REBA show, I am saddened to think I won’t be watching this show again. I only started watching a year ago, but have been catching up on the re-runs! My husband (I got him watching too) and I really enjoyed this TV show, and looked forward to Sunday evenings of REBA. It is a good, well-written, hilarious, and family-oriented program. I’m sorry that it was not renewed for whatever reason because it deserves to be on the air.

Maybe another network will pick it up.
Will a rerun of the final Reba be shown? My daughter missed it.
I would like to see the Reba show stay on the air because it makes me laugh. I can be watching it all by myself and will laugh out loud. There are not many shows that are on the air that can do that. It is a great family show, and I love it. Please don’t cancel it!!!!
To Whom it may concern, Why? That is terrible that you people have cancelled a great show. I was just telling four of my kids that watch it with we that they needed to put the show on bigger network and get rid of some of the stupid realty shows. I watch Reba with three boys and my daughter. My one son is 17 and laughs his butt off and that is what family entertainment is all about. My youngest son is 8 and he also thinks its a great show. We also watch the reruns on Lifetime. Sunday nights… Read more »

I LOVE THE REBA SHOW! IT’S LIKE “I LOVE LUCY” AND “MAMA’S FAMILY” ROLLED INTO ONE!!! I THINK IT IS SO FUNNY. THE COMIC TIMING IS RIGHT ON AND THE WRITERS MUST ALSO BE COMMENDED. IT’S CLEAN ENOUGH TO BE GOOD FAMILY ENTERTAINMENT. IT’S LIKE “ANDY”,”LUCY”, CAROL BURNETTE, GOLDEN GIRLS, YOU CAN WATCH IT OVER AND OVER AGAIN AND STILL GET A GOOD LAUGH!!!!!
