Tonight marks the last episode of Ringer’s first season — and likely of the TV series as well. Despite being The CW’s most anticipated new TV show of 2011-12, the series hasn’t been able to hold onto its audience.
Ringer revolves around a former exotic dancer named Bridget (Sarah Michelle Gellar) who, after being the sole witness to a professional hit, reunites with her wealthy estranged twin, Siobhan. When Siobhan disappears, Bridget assumes her identity and discovers that her sister’s complicated life rivals her own. The show also features the talents of Nestor Carbonell, Mike Colter, Ioan Gruffudd, Zoey Deutch, Tara Summers, and Kristoffer Polaha).
The series debuted to strong numbers (by CW standards anyway) with a 1.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 2.84 million total viewers. That was pretty close to being on par with the smallest network’s most popular show, The Vampire Diaries.

Unfortunately, the second episode of Ringer lost 25% in the demo and by the fourth installment, the series lost another 33%. Not good. It didn’t help that the network put the struggling series on hiatus for two months.
The ratings have fluctuated somewhat over the course of the season but have been trending downward overall. The most recent episodes of Ringer have been bringing in a 0.4 demo rating and just over a million total viewers. Even by The CW’s standards, those are very bad numbers.
While The CW gets revenue from other areas besides broadcast advertising — big deals from Netflix and Hulu, for example — the network still has to make choices about what to cancel and what to renew. If viewership of Ringer had been on the rise, it would have a chance at being renewed. As it stands now, it looks certain that tonight’s episode will be the last one.

Ringer is a fun, fresh new show – don’t cancel it! I love it! Are you looking at the numbers for Hulu & those of us that DVR it? TV watching has changed radically over the past 10 years & it seems like the networks are not taking that into consideration. Ioan Gruffudd and Sarah Michelle Gellar are two amazing actors and they are what makes this show so incredible. I have found myself hooked show after show to see what will happen next.. I am as hooked on this show as I was the first time I saw Grey’s Anatomy. At the end of each show there is always a mind-blowing cliff hanger that makes it so hard to wait for the next episode. I only watch a few shows, and this is by far my favorite. I also watch the Good Wife, which is really popular. I think Ringer is in a difficult time slot, and the fact that it went off the air for a few weeks was frustrating to me. I missed the pilot but caught an episode later and was so intrigued that I watched all available episodes on hulu. I was hooked from that point on. Great writing, great cast, awesome!!!! Please don’t cancel!!1

I have not been so emotionally invested in a show since the first season of Grey’s Anatomy!! You have NO IDEA how much I look forward to it every week. Just the thought of the Season Finale… I am not emotionally stable enough for that!! LOL having to wait who knows how long for season 2 to start (IF IT EVEN DOES!!) I cant handle it! The rest of the cast has been outstanding as well. Everyone that is a part of this show makes it what it is. All the actors do an amazing job! Sarah is wonderful but I look forward to watching the show as a whole because everyone has their part in keeping me super hooked!! Great casting job! Even the bad guys are great! lol
Please… give Ringer another chance, it’s a great show with a lot of potential. I can’t believe it could possibly be canceled. This is by far my favorite show on TV right now…
RINGER needs to continue, it is a great series whose plot is constantly revolving…..we need another season of RINGER!!!!!
The CW really needs to wake up and realize that there is an entire other audience of people out there and we LOVED “Ringer.” You’ve got a fan base here built in due to the source material itself being intriguing and hooking us right away and on the edge of our seats each week! Please don’t cancel Ringer!! It’s a very good and suspenseful show. I love the storyline and it keeps you the edge of your seat! There is so much they can do with it.
