Tonight marks the last episode of Ringer’s first season — and likely of the TV series as well. Despite being The CW’s most anticipated new TV show of 2011-12, the series hasn’t been able to hold onto its audience.
Ringer revolves around a former exotic dancer named Bridget (Sarah Michelle Gellar) who, after being the sole witness to a professional hit, reunites with her wealthy estranged twin, Siobhan. When Siobhan disappears, Bridget assumes her identity and discovers that her sister’s complicated life rivals her own. The show also features the talents of Nestor Carbonell, Mike Colter, Ioan Gruffudd, Zoey Deutch, Tara Summers, and Kristoffer Polaha).
The series debuted to strong numbers (by CW standards anyway) with a 1.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 2.84 million total viewers. That was pretty close to being on par with the smallest network’s most popular show, The Vampire Diaries.

Unfortunately, the second episode of Ringer lost 25% in the demo and by the fourth installment, the series lost another 33%. Not good. It didn’t help that the network put the struggling series on hiatus for two months.
The ratings have fluctuated somewhat over the course of the season but have been trending downward overall. The most recent episodes of Ringer have been bringing in a 0.4 demo rating and just over a million total viewers. Even by The CW’s standards, those are very bad numbers.
While The CW gets revenue from other areas besides broadcast advertising — big deals from Netflix and Hulu, for example — the network still has to make choices about what to cancel and what to renew. If viewership of Ringer had been on the rise, it would have a chance at being renewed. As it stands now, it looks certain that tonight’s episode will be the last one.
But what do you think? Is it time for Ringer to be cancelled or should there be a second season?

I don’t think the first ep was written well but once you grasped the story of who siobhan and Bridget were it was easy to follow. Obviously some viewers didn’t bother but I for one am addicted. I think the storyline is brilliant and after the finale I can’t wait to see what the twins do next.
I love this show. I loved all the episodes. I dont like most of cw shows except I love hart of dixie, one tree hill and the ringer. I loved how briget made things better but disappointed in andrew for not loving her after she told him the truth but i hoped that would take us to season 2. please dont cancel it.
Having only recently discovered this show, I hope it will be renewed. My husband and I enjoy it a lot. I hate the reality shows and was happy to find a show with substance. Love SMG and this show!
Ringer is number one on my must-see list from week to week. Every episode shows like a season finale! Part of me worried that so much craziness would deplete the material they could use in subsequent seasons. I truly love this show! One of the reasons it may not be receiving adequate viewership is because of the timeslot. On regular network television (in Canada) it shows on a Friday night. For old people like me…it’s not a problem, but for the younger, more energetic set…..they won’t stay home to watch T.V. on a Friday night. Just sayin.

LOVE THE RINGER… Please do not cancel this show!!! Besides being on hiatus for almost two months, I still think this show has potential. The Ringer will be another great show that will leave us hanging with unfinished questions. I am sick and tired of only reality TV shows being picked up for several seasons, when it’s all the same CRAP!!!!!! Please save Ringer…Why not cancel another show or change the times around? Any new show I like they cancel!! Why oh why!!! Even my husband likes this show!!

I am no blogger nor a tv addict but I def. became hooked with the Ringer. Please do not cancel this show. I am so sick of the same old reality shows and typical cliche family shows. I love the suspense and waiting for the next episode to see Sarah Michelle fix all the pieces. I can’t believe you are canceled the show, not only that but not even letting it finish give me a dam break. Some of the new show are just for the younger generation who are usually out till late anyway. Bring it back or a least let us finish it. :0(
Very intriguing show. I anticipate watching each week I really hope Ringer gets a second season. Can’t wait to see what happens next with Andrew and ” the twins”.
