Tonight marks the last episode of Ringer’s first season — and likely of the TV series as well. Despite being The CW’s most anticipated new TV show of 2011-12, the series hasn’t been able to hold onto its audience.
Ringer revolves around a former exotic dancer named Bridget (Sarah Michelle Gellar) who, after being the sole witness to a professional hit, reunites with her wealthy estranged twin, Siobhan. When Siobhan disappears, Bridget assumes her identity and discovers that her sister’s complicated life rivals her own. The show also features the talents of Nestor Carbonell, Mike Colter, Ioan Gruffudd, Zoey Deutch, Tara Summers, and Kristoffer Polaha).
The series debuted to strong numbers (by CW standards anyway) with a 1.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 2.84 million total viewers. That was pretty close to being on par with the smallest network’s most popular show, The Vampire Diaries.

Unfortunately, the second episode of Ringer lost 25% in the demo and by the fourth installment, the series lost another 33%. Not good. It didn’t help that the network put the struggling series on hiatus for two months.
The ratings have fluctuated somewhat over the course of the season but have been trending downward overall. The most recent episodes of Ringer have been bringing in a 0.4 demo rating and just over a million total viewers. Even by The CW’s standards, those are very bad numbers.
While The CW gets revenue from other areas besides broadcast advertising — big deals from Netflix and Hulu, for example — the network still has to make choices about what to cancel and what to renew. If viewership of Ringer had been on the rise, it would have a chance at being renewed. As it stands now, it looks certain that tonight’s episode will be the last one.
But what do you think? Is it time for Ringer to be cancelled or should there be a second season?

Please renew RINGER. It keeps you wanting more.
This show needs another shot. The long break didn’t help matters. It’s a great show and I would be so disappointed to not see it come back for another season. Try it in another time slot without month and a half breaks!!!
I’ve always said that ‘international markets’ and Netflix deals are more important than ever to The CW. This is 1 reason why more established show’s are being renewed even with small ratings.

In regards to Ringer I sadly think it will have to go 🙁
Please save Ringer!! Best tv drama
I love Ringer!!!! It’s the only new show I look forward to watching every week. It is awesome so many twists and turns, with a healthy dose of romance & danger thrown in for flavor!!! It definately needs to be renewed!!! Please don’t cancel a great show!!!
Agree with those who say CW is the wrong network for it. My mother (aged 67) kept reading about it and when I told her it was Chanel 11 (the channel for the CW in New York) she said, oh, I never watch shows on that channel. This really is an older demographic show . . . Guaranteed if another network picks it up and it can be streamed over the summer on Netflix it WILL generate a much bigger audience next season.
Ringer is the best show on cw then comes hart of dixie, the vampire diaries …etc anyways my point is that its the cw fault that ringer lost viewers first because they kept it from airing for 2 months second rumours came out that ringer was getting cancelled while they stood there doing nothing !! no wonder y it lost 33% of its viewers !!!!! u better renew it and hart of dixie or im not watching another show on cw -_-
keep it, repeat it during the summer to build up the fan base for the fall. It is totally addictive and much of it’s failure was the marketing and time slots SUCK. The Walking Dead had to build it’s audience and they worked at it.
“Ringer” is such a fantastic show! There is no good reason for it to end! CW is the wrong outlet for it!!! I am hoping beyond all hope that another network picks it up – it is just too good to simply end after one season! When WB killed off Buffy in “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”, FOX picked it up and had two more really successful years with it, until the show itself wanted to end! Why can’t FOX do that for “Ringer”, a show that CW is stupidly throwing a way? I can’t even express how ridiculous it is… Read more »
Tonight’s episode (the finale) was the best episode of the season! I hope they’ll give it a chance with another year. Networks seem to forget that shows need time to find an audience.
Ringer is a GREAT show. I excitedly await Tuesdays solely for this show, and have discussions on the characters and story with a few other viewers on at least a biweekly basis. Please renew for a second season!
Ringer is great. I agree with the other poster. This show is too good for the CW. Renew it and move it to a bigger, better network!
Oh dear god – please renew!!!!
I just can’t believe they want to cancel this show. I LOVE THIS SHOW !!!! This is my favorite new show of the season. It is the only show I make sure to watch from week to week. I can’t say that about any other shows. Ringer has drama and suspense. They have done a stand up job keeping the audience hanging on from week to week. Fabulous writers in my opinion. The cast is great too. If the CW cancels it, I sure hope another station picks it up. Is there anything the fans can do to keep it… Read more »
Renew Ringer! How can they leave us hanging now not knowing what happens?! Such a good drama- my favourite american show!
