Tonight marks the last episode of Ringer’s first season — and likely of the TV series as well. Despite being The CW’s most anticipated new TV show of 2011-12, the series hasn’t been able to hold onto its audience.
Ringer revolves around a former exotic dancer named Bridget (Sarah Michelle Gellar) who, after being the sole witness to a professional hit, reunites with her wealthy estranged twin, Siobhan. When Siobhan disappears, Bridget assumes her identity and discovers that her sister’s complicated life rivals her own. The show also features the talents of Nestor Carbonell, Mike Colter, Ioan Gruffudd, Zoey Deutch, Tara Summers, and Kristoffer Polaha).
The series debuted to strong numbers (by CW standards anyway) with a 1.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 2.84 million total viewers. That was pretty close to being on par with the smallest network’s most popular show, The Vampire Diaries.

Unfortunately, the second episode of Ringer lost 25% in the demo and by the fourth installment, the series lost another 33%. Not good. It didn’t help that the network put the struggling series on hiatus for two months.
The ratings have fluctuated somewhat over the course of the season but have been trending downward overall. The most recent episodes of Ringer have been bringing in a 0.4 demo rating and just over a million total viewers. Even by The CW’s standards, those are very bad numbers.
While The CW gets revenue from other areas besides broadcast advertising — big deals from Netflix and Hulu, for example — the network still has to make choices about what to cancel and what to renew. If viewership of Ringer had been on the rise, it would have a chance at being renewed. As it stands now, it looks certain that tonight’s episode will be the last one.
But what do you think? Is it time for Ringer to be cancelled or should there be a second season?

DON’T CANCEL THE SHOW :/ I look forward to taking a brake every week during school and watch it. Just because lots of people don’t watch it on the TV doesn’t mean lots of students do not watch it online! LOVE THIS SHOW and I need to know what is going to happen :/
the show is amazing but people get a little lost, if the cw wants more rating they have to promote it betteror more than they alredy have because most people dont know that series is on! GDM
This show needs to be renewed, but I know it won’t and my comment will make no difference.
TV is a ratings game… and the ratings for Ringer suck. Real shame. I’m gonna go watch the series finale right now. Hope to see these actors in something good next year.
I was totally addicted to this show and really hope and prey it has another season
Please please please keep it…..one of the best this season…would have helped if the scheduling was consistent and also one episode never even aired due to a dispute between Direct TV and Tribune network
I absolutely LOVE this show!!! You have to give a show a chance. Think of all the shows out there that went on to be big hits despite initial ratings. The audience needs the opportunity to discover there is a new show on the air – often happens over the summer when other shows are airing re-runs. I hope we see it again – the episode last night was wonderful and did leave an opening for them to come back and answer a few questions left hanging.
Ringer is the best new show of the 2011-2012 season! People just don’t know what they’re missing. It should definitely not be cancelled.
They can’t leave the show the way it ended. Even if it is canceled, they need to do one more so we are not left hanging. I really liked the show. The only other show I even watch on the CW is Supernatural.
I love it!!!!!
omg i love this show best show in cw 😀
LOVE this show!! I hope it comes back but it probably won’t. Too bad.
Sarah Michelle Gellar is not only an amazing actess but this show is AMAZING. I know that I work on Tues nights and cant watch it but I ALWAYS tivo it. The show needs to be advertised more. The first show, I was captivated. DO NOT CANCEL!!!!
i havnt seen a show full of this much suspense since vampire diaries. the would be out of there mind to cancel ringer.
could not agree more. this is a fantastic drama mystery I love it I am very sad to hear it will most likely be cancelled. 🙁 KEEP RINGER ALIVE!
This is a great show and certainly the best currently being offered by this network.
