Tyrant was cancelled after just three seasons on FX, and the reasons behind the shocking cancellation have now been revealed. Bert Salke, the FOX 21 President, spoke about those reasons with The Hollywood Reporter.
Salke said the following:
“We knew after the second year and were really aware that for a show we felt so strongly about — and the fan base felt so strongly about — that the numbers weren’t commensurate with the base for the show. Nobody was more aware than the FX people and John wanted to get in front of it. Chris, Howard and the studio went in with very open eyes and hoping for the best. We were getting behind it the same way we do every year and preparing for any number of outcomes. There were no surprises.”
There is hope that the series will return. Tyrant is being actively shopped to streaming services. It could land on Netflix or Hulu.

“Tyrant” was one of THE best shows broadcast today. I have watched it since the first episode. I nearly had a heart attack tonight when I learned it wasn’t coming on anymore. This show had so much more depth than the rest of the trash on TV. The different story lines going on kept a viewer thinking, and the character development was superb. Oh Boy, its going to take me a while to adjust.
I am so upset that they are considering cancelling this show. It is fabulous. Please please do not cancel or someone pick it up.

First myself, friends and family were SHOCKED Tyrant was cancelled. It is such a well done program with important issues relevant to today’s world. The actors are superb in all ways. From start to finish each episode had me sitting on the edge of my seat and I held great anticipation for the next week’s show. Please reconsider Season 4 or please some else pick up this valuable show.
I would definitely watch Season 4, and I really like the show and hope it is continued.

It is a shame that you would cancel such a great program. There really needs to be a fourth season, this show had started looking into one of the major problems of our time and was just about to show women in the middle East aspiring to be more. I hope Hulu or Netflix will pickup this series. Really well made, with great acting.
