Tyrant was cancelled after just three seasons on FX, and the reasons behind the shocking cancellation have now been revealed. Bert Salke, the FOX 21 President, spoke about those reasons with The Hollywood Reporter.
Salke said the following:
“We knew after the second year and were really aware that for a show we felt so strongly about — and the fan base felt so strongly about — that the numbers weren’t commensurate with the base for the show. Nobody was more aware than the FX people and John wanted to get in front of it. Chris, Howard and the studio went in with very open eyes and hoping for the best. We were getting behind it the same way we do every year and preparing for any number of outcomes. There were no surprises.”
There is hope that the series will return. Tyrant is being actively shopped to streaming services. It could land on Netflix or Hulu.

Yes, a 4th season! You can’t end a series this way! Season 3 was terrible, pull back the script like the first 2 seasons and end it on a good note! Redeem yourself here!
Totally agree with this & so many other comments here! It NEEDS & MUST HAVE. a conclusion to the epic storyline, it needs to circle round & bring together so resemblance of an ending not leave it open with non concluded storyline’s & all the what ifs? It is one of the poorest endings of series I’ve watched in years & it needs a & DESERVES a proper concluding seasons to wrap up what’s been a great series!
Just recently came across this show on Hulu, can not believe there is no season 4, no conclusion to anything….. please bring this show back!

Best show that FX has put together in a while. Don’t think I would be watching any series show from FX as they like to leave you with cliffhangers. They need to continue the series of Tyrant.
Tyrant was the best show FX ever put out. One of the reasons I quit watching FX altogether. You definitely lost a viewer here.
Tyrant should absolutely be brought back. it was amazing that this show just came from nowhere & was a great binge series. Everyone that I told about the show can’t stop watching it. We need more series like this
