Last year, Under the Dome was quickly renewed for another season on CBS. No such luck this time around. Will it be renewed for a third season or will the series be cancelled instead?
Under the Dome revolves around residents of Chester’s Mill in Maine after a large transparent dome cuts them off from the world. Those on the inside must work to survive with limited resources and rising tension. The large cast includes Mike Vogel, Rachelle Lefevre, Natalie Martinez, Britt Robertson, Alexander Koch, Nicholas Strong, Colin Ford, Mackenzie Lintz, Jolene Purdy, Aisha Hinds, Dean Norris, Eddie Cahill, and Karla Crome.
Last year, the show started strong but lost a lot of steam over the course of the season. It ended up averaging a 2.7 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 11.21 million viewers.
Season two has seen a big decline in the ratings. It’s dropped 41% in the demo to a 1.6 rating and dropped 36% in viewership, to 7.14 million. On the positive side, it’s still the network’s highest-rated scripted series of the summer.
Last summer, CBS President and CEO Les Moonves noted that, because of deals with Amazon and overseas distributors, Under the Dome was profitable for the corporation even before the series had even premiered.
Recently Moonves told investors that, even though the show’s ratings are way down, it is still profitable — generating $2.5 million per episode before they air.
Based on this information, it sounds very likely that Under the Dome will return for a third season next summer. If they plan to end it, hopefully they’ll close the story properly.

Please don’t stop airing this show!!!!! This is one of my Favs and I really wanna know what’s gonna happen next! I haven’t read the book but watching the show is very interesting and mysterious! I love it!!! Please, please, please make a 3rd season!!!! PLEASE keep bring the show back for another season. It can’t end like this… We want to know what happens when they leave the tunnel, and what happens to Julia, Junior, and Big Jim. Do Julia and Junior get out? Does Big Jim get crushed by the dome? What’s on the other side? You can’t leave it hanging this way, PLEASE!!!
I love this show I really hope it returns again again again and again.
Its an awesome show, i was mad it rolled over to a another series at first. but im so hoping it gets picked up for #3 . hey they talk about ratings drops but remember at first it was going to me a summer mini series. so everyone was watching. i can see the reason for dips in the ratings in season 2, it drifted from the book alot. looked like they did some writing on the fly. but hey it was still awesome! i think they got a great thing. im mean over 7 million tuning in that nothing… Read more »
please return… I want to see what happened to the egg and why it kept showing that one place in zenith, and will julia and barbie get to be together.. i want to see every one get to the other side and see if meline has a new life so many things were left opened so please please pleas come back under the dome…

As long as everyone in the dome still looks like they just walked out of a beauty salon, no one ever freaks out because the dead rise and the ground moves, bandages are put on the outside of their clothes to keep them from bleeding to death and someone kills everyone that is a lousy actor (and that would be everyone), then I say yea, bring on season 3.

This cannot be cut short! I agree that they should have kept it as a mini series but now we’ve gotten this far and so cannot quit without a proper ending. Regardless of what others say about the show being different from the book, It is a good show…. THE SHOW MUST GO ON!!! :))
I like Under The Dome! I hope there is a third season. This lasr episode lett it wide open and didn’t finish to tell us what happened and if everyone got out! Please Don’t Leave Us Hanging!

I was disappointed that Rebecca didn’t get the cow treatment but I was pleased to see her demise.
