18 to Life: Canadian TV Show Cancelled by The CW But…

18 to Life canceledTom and Jessie have their share of challenges as 18-year-old newlyweds. Unfortunately, their 18 to Life TV show has bigger problems. It’s been cancelled.

18 to Life revolves around a pair of best friends who end up getting married at an early age, much to the dismay of the very different parents. The series features Michael Seater, Stacey Farber, Alain Goulem, Angela Asher, Jesse Rath, Kaniehtiio Horn, Arielle Shiri, Peter Keleghan, Ellen David, Erin Agostino, Carl Alacchi, Samantha Moore, and Raphael Cohen-Demers.

An import from Canada, 18 to Life debuted on August 3rd to just a 0.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic and only 988,000 viewers. The second episode dropped to a 0.3 rating and 846,000 total viewers. That put the pair of episodes in last place in both categories. Later episodes attracted even fewer viewers.

After Tuesday’s episodes, The CW has decided to pull the show from the schedule. That leaves six episodes on the shelf. They’ll be replaced by repeats of Life Unexpected. New episodes of that drama will debut in the same timeslot on September 14th.

Though 18 to Life may be finished on The CW, the comedy has already been renewed for a second season in Canada. The CBC finished airing season one in April and production of season two is currently underway.

Hopefully fans in the States will be able to buy the show on DVD or the show will be picked up by a cable station.

What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that CW has cancelled 18 to Life? Do you think it’s worth watching?

    I LOVE this show!!! I just found it in Netflix and went searching for season 3 only to find out it is cancelled :-( I really hope they reconsider putting it back on the air! A show with morals and something that I’m sure a lot of people can relate to about inlaws.

    Began watching it on Netflix today, and I couldn’t stop watching, it was so funny! I’m sure if they had advertised it more, it could be very popular. I stumbled on it by chance, and I am so glad I did because it is my new favorite show 😀 So angry that it’s cancelled!!!

    omg, i loved this show, it was my favorite show ever, but i agree with jason, every show that was acctually good has been cacelled. Becase people are too superficial, they don’t want see something that they really relate to, they want see the story of someone else’s life wishig it were their lives.

    I’m not all that surprised 18 to Life has been cancelled. Ask yourselves, when was the last time a GOOD show lasted more than 2 or 3 seasons? People don’t want to see a show that we can relate to, they want big explosions or friends/family betraying each other. From the moment I saw episode one, I thought to myself; “Hey a show thats actually fun and down-to-earth, this won’t last long”

    The only time I see shows like this last are when their on Disney, because when they know a show is good they keep it going.

    Oh heres three good shows that lasted (that I can think of);
    7th Heaven
    Boy meets World

    I just stumbled on the show today because I was on the hunt for some Life with Derek fanfiction and started wondering what Micheal Seater was upto since LWD stopped airing on Disney a year ago. So, I typed Micheal Seater into Youtube and the 18 to Life trailer popped up. Needless to say, it caught my interest and I started searching on Google for the episodes…found the VidXden link to the first season and have been watching it all night! I’ve MISSED Micheal Seater he’s AWESOME! January 3rd is gonna be even better for me now that I have both the Pretty Little Liars (yes I know, but what can I say? I watch it for Ian Harding who btw is also AWESOME!) and 18 to Life premieres to look forward to! XD I hope CBC puts it online.
