Crossbones: Season One Ratings

Crossbones TV show on NBC ratingsA couple years ago, NBC aired Crusoe, an adventure series based on the classic Robinson Crusoe novel and character. It was quickly cancelled. Now, the network is trying Crossbones, another adventure series about the same era. Will this one be a success and be renewed for a second season or, will it be cancelled as well? We’ll have to wait and see.

Crossbones revolves around the life of Edward Teach (John Malkovich), better known as Blackbeard the pirate, and his desire to aquire a valuable invention called the longitude chronometer. Others in the cast are Yasmine Al Massri, Richard Coyle, Claire Foy, David Hoflin, Tracy Ifeachor, and Chris Perfetti.

The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.

These are the final national numbers (unless noted with an “*”). The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.

This is a great show. Great actors, great concept, and great entertainment. Summer is not a good time to expect some types of shows to survive. Maybe the producers can get it on PBS – where real quality shows work.

I was shocked and very disappointed when I saw that the “finale” would be a 2 hour episode on Saturday, because that autimatically means it is cancelled…! What a disappointment. I was really looking forward to see what happens to the characters now that Nenna has escaped with more of her stolen booty (not to mention her murder of Rose). Also, what will happen to Black Beard’s original wife; and his halucinations of her. (and how everything will effect the supporting actors). BRING IT BACK!

Some very good comments have already been made. I also enjoy this series, but agree that there is too much filler. As “nemo f” stated, it is a four-hour miniseries stretched to fill double that in episodes. “Alyson” stated that summer is the worse time for ratings, and I agree. This series might fare much better during the fall. I hope the producers tweak this potentially great series and go for season two.
