Channel 4 Announces Ambitious New Drama Serial from World Productions
17 NOV 2015
Channel 4 has green-lit an intense and powerful four-part psychological thriller, the first commission for female writing duo Tracey Malone (Silent Witness) and first time TV writer Kate Ashfield, from Line of Duty producers World Productions.
Born to Kill (w/t), announced earlier today at Channel 4’s Upfronts 2016 event for the advertising industry, is a haunting exploration of the mind of a teenage boy trying to suppress psychopathic desires whilst falling in love for the first time. Meanwhile, his family and community watch on, unaware of what he is capable of.
Head of Drama Piers Wenger says; “Tracey and Kate reel you in to their gripping world and never let you go – this is edge of your seat drama. They have created two remarkably complex young characters that you hope will find love, but fear that their journey may take a darker turn. We are incredibly excited to have two such gifted writers leading this extraordinary piece of work.”
World Productions’ Head of Drama Jake Lushington says; “World is thrilled to be making such an ambitious, morally ambiguous piece that contains the power to seduce and shock in equal measure.”
Written by Kate Ashfield (BIFA nominated actress and first-time TV writer) and Tracey Malone (Silent Witness), Born to Kill (w/t) will be executive produced by Jake Lushington for World Productions. Commissioned for Channel 4 by Piers Wenger and Beth Willis, the 4 X 60’ mini-series will go into production in 2016.
