Who is safe from the brain-eating bugs on BrainDead? Recently, creators Robert and Michelle King spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about the future of the new CBS series.
The political dramedy follows Laurel (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), a young Washington DC staffer who notices something strange going on with the politicians on Capitol Hill. The cast also includes Aaron Tveit, Tony Shalhoub, and Danny Pino.
[SPOILER ALERT] After the premiere revealed that bugs were eating the brains of various politicians, Robert King told THR that at least one main character may be safe from the parasites:
Laurel is in danger of dying and not being in season two, but we would never do that to Mary Elizabeth Winstead. Some people die from it. Some people who resist, their brain explodes. Usually either your brain is weak enough that you accept it and you’re taken over, or if you resist too much — boom!”
And where exactly do these bugs come from? Winstead said that’s a mysterious the show will continue to explore:
Laurel is challenged in just about every possible way throughout the season — politically, personally, and ways beyond her comprehension. It’s plotted out in a slow burn of trying to figure out what these bugs are, where they come from, and what they do to people. There’s a lot of different conspiracy theories abound before the truth comes out.”
What do you think? Did you watch the premiere of BrainDead? Will you continue to watch the series?
Great show. I’m always hard pressed to find good writing on T.V. This definitely fits the bill. Kudos to the Kings and THANK YOU.
Keep the cast 🙁 i love mary so much. More politic problems, more intense <3

I think the show is silly and belongs in the Sience Fiction category .
Please renew! Keep the whole cast! Mary please don’t leave the show! Most bizarre, comedic, political, sy-fy ever!!!

Renew this, PLEEEEEZE. We absolutely love this show.
Brain Dead was a unique, refreshing, timely and and fun to watch for not only my wife and I but 6 of our friends and relatives.
With all the “Junk” reality shows, this truly was an innovative entertaining TV fare.
I love this show and especially love the chemistry between Laurel and Gareth. Red is just so much fun. I hope the cast returns for a second season.
It took a few shows to get into. I stayed watching the show because it was from Ridley Scott. I am glad I did as I really got into the show. Slightly bizarre story line but addictive to watch. Liked the fact that it had current. politics immersed in the show
I love the show Brain Dead–very timely subject that sadly does’ fall far from the political tree yet it is hilarious
