Mal and Kaylee are back together. TVLine reports Jewel Staite will appear in an upcoming episode of ABC’s Castle.

Staite appeared alongside Castle lead Nathan Fillion in the short-lived FOX series Firefly.

In the episode, Staite will play “the director of a Shakespearean Broadway staging whose movie-star lead turns up dead.”

Co-showrunner Terence Paul Winter said:

There are some great scenes between her, Nathan [Fillion] and the boys. She came to play, she was really great.”

Castle is currently nearing the end of its eighth season, which may be one of the ABC’s series last. We recently reported that cast members Stana Katic and Tamala Jones will not be returning to the show.

Staite’s episode premieres on May 2nd.
