Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?
I can’t believe Cedar Cove was cancelled. Again, another network as left us with unanswered questions. At least a movie should be made resolving all the issues.
Please bring Cedar Cove back; it was such excellent family programing. Hallmark, this is a hit to many of us.
Please bring back Cedar Cove it is a great
wholesome show there are few of these kind
of shows these days. Please bring it back.
So disappointed that it’s been cancelled. You should have at least made the ending final! One very disappointed UK viewer 🙁
We were sorry to find out Cedar Cove was not returning. If a season cost to much how about a 2 hr special to wrap up all the loose ends. Those of us that belong to 1.67 million households would have appreciated ending the series with class not just dumped because of the almighty dollar.
I am beyond disappointed to find that Cedar Cove has been cancelled. I just happened to get online to see when Season 4 would be starting up and found this news! Several of my friends are equally disappointed. I agree with the many posts already made regarding the quality of the show. We need more TV programs like Cedar Cove and I am sure there are thousands of fans who want to continue with this series. I would think it is in Hallmark’s best interest to reconsider this decision!
Me too. Was just checking to see when the new season begins. Just to find out it isn’t. Very disappointed.
Guess television as gone to a new low. Waled all year for Cedar Cove and Hallmark took off the only remaining good show left on tv. Shame on them!
I am disappointed that every time a great show comes along that doesn’t have bimbos and sex as the main storyline, it gets cancelled. I really loved this show and it should have been wrapped up. Bad decision. I am very disappointed
That’s messed up my husband said when I just told him he won’t get to watch season 4. We have watched every episode since it started and was waiting for this season to start. He said you should at least bring closure to the show.
Hallmark executives!! Are you all reading these comments! Seriously you are making a big mistake cancelling this series and I think there is going to lots of people not watching Hallmark – I know I’ll be one of them – so think twice keep it on. It’s a wonderful series- it’s clean it’s beautiful scenery – it’s just a wonderful show.
This is the biggest mistake! I just did the survey leasing the Hallmark channel and now they cancel one of the best nice clean shows? Just the dumbest thing hallmark has done … It’s not right ! I’m glad I have my subscription to Netflix not going to continue with Hallmark just the biggest mistake!!!
Seriously destroyed by the news of Cedar Cove’s cancellation! I do looked forward to watching the next episodes. Please don’t leave us hanging with unfinished storylines!
So very sad to learn that Cedar Cove has been cancelled. I really, really enjoyed it. Why do they take everything off that is good. 🙁
So sorry to see that it was found necessary to cancel Cedar Cove without a proper ending. Looked forward to watching each Saturday night.
My husband really looked forward to watching Cedar Cove every Saturday so very sad that you have canceled it. Such a great show!!!!
