Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?
I just finished watching the last episode of season 3. Started watching in the middle of season 2 and looked forward to it every Saturday night in the summer. I have plans to watch the episodes that I have missed,. I am sorry that the show will not pick up for a fourth season.x
Sometimes normal end positive….go on…..
Somethings normal in the TV, No violence, no agressive…..Love, dreams and go on…….Perche?????? Maybe was to much nice and positive……I Hope one day see season 4 and the beautiful final…Thanks.
My husband and I are very disappointed to find out our summer will not be filled with Saturday night episodes of Cedar Cove. This really stinks!!!
This just confirms what I have noticed, the series Las Vegas and a few others have been canceled with no notice and fan fare. I rarely watch TV anymore and this just. Justifies my decision to stop watching the TV I do watch, too bad, shame on you. I thought hallmark was different, descent, man was I wrong.
Goodbye home and family, goodbye hallmark christmas ornaments. Goodbye
I was looking forward to Season 4. I knew it must be coming up shortly so I went to find out when, That’s when I discovered it ‘s not. I am extremely disappointed. I am a Debbie Macomber fan and Cedar Cove -I’ve read them all. I would love to see it come back.
This is a HUGE disappointment to my family! We have watched all three seasons, and have been eagerly waiting for the season you promised. I can’t believe you would cancel such a great show. You could have least made a two-hour conclusion. I think you’ve made a huge mistake!
so sorry. I had been looking forward to this all year
Cedar Cove was one of my favorite. I looked forward to Season 4. Very disappointed with the decision to cancel the show.
CEDAR COVE WAS AN AWESOME SHOW, WHY DO THEY CANCEL ALL THE GOOD SHOWS AND KEEP ALL THE CRAP ON. NOT EVEN WORTH HAVING TV ALL YOU EVER GET IS RE-RUNS OF THE SAME OLD STUFF.
Cedar Cove was the only reason I kept cable tv. I am very disappointed and was looking forward to another. There aren’t many places to escape to in this world and Cedar Cove provided that escape for a few weeks each season. Big mistake for Hallmark!!!
Loved watching Cedar Cove in the UK – a calming, family friendly show. Shame it had to end. This happens on so many occassions where you start to get into a series and then it gets cancelled…what’s worse are the loose ends and the stories it didn’t tell that you were hoping to come. 🙁
I am so sorry, and so disappointed.
Disappointed in not being able to see outcome of last season of Cedar Cove! Guess I will have to make my own ending!
I just checked on line to see when Season 4 of Cedar Cove was starting and was so shocked and disappointed to find out it was cancelled!!! Even with the zillions of choices we viewers have on satellite/cable theses days, Cedar Cove was my absolute favorite–I looked forward to every episode and loved escaping to the idyllic community of Cedar Cove with all of its lovely residents. Please pick this up, Netflix!! I don’t want to say good bye yet!
