Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?

This was a GREAT show! Just finished watching on Netflix. SO SAD there’s no more!!
Why isn’t cedar cove coming back!!!! I’m so sick of great and decent family shows being cancelled!!! You should definitely bring it back. All my girlfriends and I are sick about this.
Season four needs to be aired I watched that everyday for three days and was very disappointed that you can cancel a show like that it was an amazing series I got so many people watching it and they will be so angry with the ending also
I thought the series was quite different from the books and the acting wasn’t the greatest but they could have finished it up with another series to tie everything up.
I’m totally stunned that Hallmark left the viewers hanging by cancelling Season 4. I’ve been watching Hallmark shows for many years; this type ending is not typical for Hallmark productions. If the number of viewers wasn’t sufficient for a renewal of the next season, Hallmark should have considered a final episode to Season 3 to bring closure to the story lines. In many ways I wish I hadn’t even started the series and just let Debbie Macomber’s books tell the story!
Would be nice for a movie to tie up loose ends at least.
I think the reason it lost viewers each season is because people didn’t realize it was back on. We enjoyed it because of the characters and scenery but it was too much like a soap opera in that no one ever just gets to have happiness. As soon as a couple finally get together then it all falls apart. Also, no consistency. It’s as though you think the viewers have amnesia, the houses, inn, businesses kept changing. And suddenly Andy Mcdowells tv mother is gone and the story w her brother stealing the house just fell flat and was so… Read more »
Loved the show. Wish there was at least closure to so many of the interesting story lines!!! Please bring it back for at least one more season!!!!!!
I think it’s pretty sorry for you to start a series and not finish it. You still made plenty of money. I’ve got to where I don’t like the hallmark channel because of this. And because of the constant same reruns. Now you have gay commercials. You wonder why your losing your ratings. ??? Hello.
Go back to being family based and finish things out.
Yes! Loved this series, there should be a 4th season, even 3 or so shows to wrap up
No! carry on, it got better and better.
Bring it back. My wife and daughter gathered around and watched as a family. We don’t have those things anymore and it’s sad to see it go!
I loved the show! Really hate to see it go. This leaves us with so many unanswered questions.
Such a terrific show! So sad to see it go! Beautiful characters! Amazing scenery!
