Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?

I cannot believe this show was cancelled. I am very disappointed in Hallmark for doing so. This was such s great getaway each week. Loved the series and most of all, loved the location it was filmed in. Very very disappointed.
I agree with all the comments below. Finishing Netflix 3 seasons and then googling to find out when the forth would be on and find this … no ending to the show is pretty low for a network like Hallmark who depend on a specific type of viewer. It was nice to get away from so much violence on TV and live in this fantasy in the GORGEOUS location(which I now have to visit) and as others have mentioned, one gets attached to the characters which is what you were trying to do to the viewer to keep us watching,… Read more »
Not cool, Hallmark, to give us three wonderful seasons of an excellent family show, and then cancel before giving viewers closure to the storylines. Please give us one more season. You want people to watch your channel, but canceling Cedar Cove with no resolution has left a bad taste in a lot of viewers mouths, including mine.
I can’t believe I wasted my time watching 36 episodes, only to find out there’s no ending.
We enjoyed the show and are disappointed
you didn’t at least give closure before shutting it down. VERY disappointed. Also, in comparison to so much trash on televisionthis show delightful.
Cedar Cove is a heartwarming show based in a breath taking location. It grew on me the more I watched it. The chemistry with Olivia and the district attorney was perfect and left me hanging at the end of the show. Quite frankly Jack’s character was too insecure for a secure woman like Olivia and he seemed childlike in many shows even though he’s drop dead gorgeous. So many new storylines could take place. It’s refreshing to have a down to earth real life-like show on TV. Hallmark, are you sure you won’t bring it back?
Please bring Cedar Cove back. I really enjoyed the characters in the series and felt like they part of my family. I have anxiety and I looked forward to going to Cedar Cove and forgetting my problems for awhile. There are too many cliff hangers left in the last season and according to the stories in the books, you could have lots more seasons to offer. Please bring back Cedar Cove.
loved the series please put it back on. Don’t spoil it for your avid watchers.
I do not think that Cedar Cove should have been cancelled. It is a wonderful series and I feel cheated because there are alot of unanswered questions that surrounded so many of the characters. I have anxiety and this show was a life saver to help me through some of that. I could find myself in Cedar Cove with the characters and not think about my troubles. You can’t leave this great series with all these cliff hangers. You were bringing new cvharacters into the show. Since the books are no way anything like the series, you could surely write… Read more »
Why do they cancel the best shows? I am so disappointed!
I have been watching the Cedar Cove series on Netflix and am incredibly frustrated to learn that there will not be a conclusion to the series. Had I known previously, I may not have started watching it to begin with! You get very attached to these characters and I feel a bit cheated to be completely honest. I absolutely think it should be renewed.
I loved Cedar Cove! Lots of neat characters and good writing throughout. It was nice seeing a show that was about adults rather than some whacky family’s kids. I’ve rewatched the show on Netflix and am sorry that it was cancelled.
Loved the show looked forward to the next season. Extremely disappointed to hear it was cancelled. Why not bring it back?
Please don’t cancel the show! How about not leaving us all in limbo? Loved the show!
Just watched the entire series on Netflix and loved this show. I’m so bummed that a fine show such as this has ended. Even though I didn’t watch until March of 2017, I am going to miss the characters and town of Cedar Cove. It’s refreshing to see something this wholesome on TV! Thank you Hallmark and Debbie Macomber for this outstanding story and wish you would reconsider! So many more story lines could be added! Would love to see Olivia and Paul make a go of it!
I just finished watching the series on Netflix and I just need some closer. There is so much that could happen. I really just need to know if Olivia feels the same way about Paul!
