Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?
Bring back Cedar Cove! Don’t cancel When Calls the Heart! Please!
Bring back cedar cove, it was do good, lived all the characters.
I thank you for writing this beautiful script. I have just recently obtained Netflix and found Cedar Cove. Fell in love with the cast, story line and the scenery. The ending is like a suspense mystery. Yes, gave us a lot to think about, but what a story! Great work everyone!
I just watched the final episode and am so sad. I really do wish that Hallmark would consider a two hour finale. So tough to get into a show and be left hanging. #teampaul
I LOVE this series. I have been watching it on Netflix and can’t stop watching it. Please please at least do a finale so we know what happens to everyone. Please don’t leave us hanging!
I loved Cedar Cove. Very good story lines and acting. Too few quality shows to watch on T. V. Anymore. Please at least if you aren’t going to continue the series how about some 2 hour movies of it now and then?
Great idea! Love it!
I just finished Season 3 on Netflix and am devastated there will not be a Season 4! Cedar Cove was a sweet series and Olivia was a character we can all look up to, roll our eyes with, and enjoy a piece of cake! Sure wish Hallmark would reconsider this cancellation.
I am disappointed that there’s no more cedar cove. I love it so much. Ive read all of the series and fell in love. Best ever.
Dont cancel all if it.
There is so much more to tell and to enjoy!!
I really enjoyed the Cedar Cove series. I just finished the final show and I was expecting closure and answers to the questions that were left in limbo. PLEASE consider a fourth season with a 2 hour finale.
I was looking forward to the new season. Then I saw where you canelled Season 4. Please consider to continue at least season 4.
Talk about being left hanging – no closure. Big disappointment!!
My girls and I really loved this series and were so saddened to see it was cancelled. They were so upset to see who ended up with who? Did Paul stay, Will Maryellen and John wed, where does grace decide to live! So many unanswered questions for it to just end! Absolutely adored the show and wished it would come back!
I really enjoyed Cedar Cove, and am disappointed in it being cancelled! Please consider a Season 4, at least, to tie up all the loose ends!
I am so disappointed this show was cancelled!
Why didn’t they have a two hour season finale. To tie all loose ends up!
When things like this happens, makes me not want to get into any of the Hallmark series!
I am very disappointed in the cancellation of Cedar Cove. Why isn’t Hallmark doing a final episode to tie up the storylines? I think it’s incredibly unfair to the viewers. Who is in charge of their programming? Give we viewers a series finale!
I’m so disappointed Cedar Cove isn’t coming back. I loved the books and the series. Debbie Macomber is one of my favorite authors. This series had down-to-earth stories that we could all relate to plus beautiful scenery. Please reconsider bringing this series back to all of us that loved it.
