To not much surprise, NBC has decided to renew Chuck for a fourth season. Despite sagging ratings, it’s still one of the network’s best performing hour-long shows in the targeted demo.
Chuck follows a geeky electronics store employee (Zachary Levi) whose life is turned upside down when a database of top secret government information is downloaded into his brain. The series cast includes Levi, Yvonne Strahovski, Adam Baldwin, Joshua Gomez, Sarah Lancaster, Ryan McPartlin, Mark Christopher Lawrence, Scott Krinsky, Vik Sahay, and Julia Ling.
This year, the ratings started out with a 2.9 rating in the coveted 18-49 demographic and 7.45 million viewers. That’s good, especially for NBC. Unfortunately, they’ve fallen quite a bit over the season. This week’s episode of Chuck hit a new low with 5.324 million viewers and an unfortunately consistent 1.9 rating in the demo.
On most other networks, Chuck would be toast. However, NBC has a lot of airtime to fill next season and needs some familiar programs to anchor the schedule. It’s likely for this reason that NBC has renewed Chuck for a fourth season of 13 episodes.
It’s unknown if it will return in the fall or if it will once again be held until midseason. We also don’t know if the peacock network is open to ordering additional episodes. One thing is safe to say though, for Chuck to be assured of a fifth season, viewership has to rise.
What do you think? Are you glad to hear that Chuck is coming back for season four? Any suggestions on how NBC can get more viewers?

I am a huge fan of CHUCK!! Ive watched tons of tv shows, and CHUCK is the best! I hope season five will not be the end.. Pls
Am the big fan of Chuck.i love all the characters & really enjoy watching them. Yeah , in malaysia showed season 3 at AXN & never failed watching from Mon-Thus . really expected something real going on with Chuck & Sarah , they are so cute couple.
I really enjoy Chuck, eventhough in Malaysia, the season 3 just started on AXN, but I always look forward for the next season to continue.
yes I really think that Morgan’s character need to stand up a bit against Jeff and Lester as in season 3, he have been promoted to asst manager.
not many tv series that can attaract me to watch every night but this series can make me not move until it ends for every episodes. doesn’t want to miss any funny jokes or action from each character.
I love all the characters quirks and strengths! Also I love the fact Chuck was granted another season due to the falling of previous shows. I love how John Casey has this look of disgust on his face when he defeats particular criminals. Then I liked the whole secret identity of Agent X created by Chuck’s father. Plus the strange Buy More employees who are disturbingly funny. I think they are starting to make Chuck a more powerful show by adding different twists. My boyfriend and I make an effort to watch it everytime it is on. I would be… Read more »
I am glad that NBC will give Chuck another season. In order to get more viewers you need to advertise it more. Give it a lead in. Chuck worked to hard to get Sarah that to dump it now is not fair. I agree that you need to change Morgan to a less whiney personality. Give him the guts to stand up to the 2 idiots that run over him.
I really enjoy Chuck, my wife thinks it’s dumb, but I find it alot of fun. The Morgan character does tend to get on my nerves and I would like to see them ease up on the teenage angst, but neither of those are show stoppers for me.
I would hate to see it end, there really aren’t many shows on TV that I make an effort to watch and Chuck is one of my favorites! But when was the last time the Networks listened to what the viewers wanted? It’s really only about what the advertisers want.
