In its freshman installment, the Code Black TV show earned low ratings for a CBS TV series. Instead of cancelling though, the network renewed it, with the requisite cast changes. Its numbers fell further last year, but it still wasn’t cancelled, probably thanks to licensing deal concessions. Will the third season see the audience grow or further diminish, and if so, how low can it go? Will Code Black be cancelled or renewed for season four? Stay tuned. **Status update below
A CBS medical drama, Code Black stars Marcia Gay Harden, Luis Guzmán, Rob Lowe, Boris Kodjoe, Harry Ford, Benjamin Hollingsworth, William Allen Young, Emily Tyra, Noah Gray-Cabey, Emily Alyn Lind, and Moon Bloodgood. The story unfolds at Angels Memorial Hospital in Los Angeles — the busiest, most notorious ER in the country. The high patient volume dwarfs the resources available to the exceptional staff — creating a condition known as Code Black. .
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly in the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
7/19 update: You can see the rest of the latest night’s ratings.

For comparisons: The second season of Code Black averaged a 0.97 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.984 million total viewers (live + same day ratings).
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you like the Code Black TV series? Should this CBS TV show have been cancelled or renewed for season four?
**5/24/2017 Status Update: Code Black has been cancelled by CBS. Details here.
My husband and I think this show us one of the best on TV. The stories are fresh each week, the cast is simply superb and it shows how committed real medical caregivers should be.
Quality Stuff!
This is one of the best shows with interesting characters and story lines. It’s a shame that it is being cancelled..rather cancel some of the comedy shows that take up too air time and are insulting to viewers that have intelligence!
Code Black is my first favorite TV medical drama. I love the story lines and the characters. So much to offer to the viewers each week and I know I’m not the only one who looks forward to watching these characters grow and experience life on and off the job. So real, and relatable, in many aspects.
I hope another network picks up Code Black. What a shame to see it end… Just too good to let fall by the way side.
Please save the show!!!!
Great show – excellent acting, storylines, writing. So much garbage on TV and they cancel one of the few good shows out there…no wonder the network is losing to NBC!
Love this show and the acting is great! It’s great as a Summer show (or any other season)! Reconsider!
There is no way this show should be cancelled! It is the best show there has been on Tv. It ranks with Survivor. Great cast and writers. I really don’t want to see this show go!! The rest of the crap on Tv is not worth watching! PLEASE RECONSIDER KEEPING THIS SHOW.
I hate to see code black canceled, I love this show. I guess in the future I will not invest in a new show
Why is it ever show that is good gets cancelled just because your low age demographic doesn’t like it. Maybe someone other ages do.
I don’t get it. You renew “Instinct” which has a latest rating of 50 but “Code Black” is at 70 and you Vance it. Huge mistake!
This is a brilliant show, very sad if it gets cancelled
These are excellent numbers. Why on earth was the best medical show on television cancelled?
Love this show. I can’t believe it’s being cancelled. Great cast and story lines. Hope they reconsider..
The only hope is that another nerwork sees the value of the show and the strength of the cast!
I love this show! I don’t know why being canceled. It’s a great asset for CBS!
