The Cooper Barrett’s Guide to Surviving Life TV show seems to have been cancelled by FOX. The show, starring Jack Cutmore-Scott, Meaghan Rath, James Earl, Charlie Saxton, Justin Bartha, and Liza Lapira, is off the FOX schedule. A rerun of The Simpsons, “Lisa the Veterinarian,” has now been scheduled to air in Cooper Barrett’s 7:30pm timeslot, on May 8th. As reported last week, the network had already preempted the episode once slated for April 24th.
FOX ordered 13 episodes of Cooper Barrett’s Guide but tonight’s episode, “How to Survive Your Parents’ Visit,” guest starring Alan Ruck, Jane Kaczmarek, and Juicy J (Jordan Houston), is only the 10th to make it to air. It could be Cooper Barrett’s TV series finale. Watch three previews, below. The first season finale was originally scheduled for May 8th, but the preemptions have ruled that out.
The low-rated sitcom was never on the schedule for May 1st. The Simpsons had been the planned lead-in to the primetime special, The American Country Countdown Awards, even before Cooper Barrett’s Guide was moved from 8:30 to 7:30pm. The unaired episodes of Cooper Barrett’s Guide to Surviving Life are: “How to Survive Your Birthday,” “How to Survive Your Emotional Baggage,” and “How to Survive Dating.”
If and when FOX decides to burn off those last three episodes has not been announced. Nielsen’s May 2016 ratings “sweeps” period runs from Thursday, April 28 to Wednesday, May 25. If the final three episodes air at all, expect to see them after May Sweeps.
A coming-of-age comedy, Cooper Barrett’s Guide to Surviving Life centers on life after college. Breaking the fourth wall, Cooper Barrett (Jack Cutmore-Scott) documents all the stupid mistakes he and his friends make and how they survive them.
While rooming with best friends Neal (Charlie Saxton) and Barry (James Earl), Cooper falls for neighbor, Kelly Bishop (Meaghan Rath). Cooper’s older brother Josh (Justin Bartha) is a lawyer. He has two children with wife Leslie (Liza Lapira). Josh feels he missed out by marrying soon after graduation. To recapture his lost youth, Justin sneaks out to hang with Cooper, Barry, and Neal.
Here is how FOX describes tonight’s episode:
When Cooper and Josh’s parents (guest stars Alan Ruck and Jane Kaczmarek) come to visit, the boys try to be on their best behavior, but things change when their Dad reveals a secret leading to a crazy night and a run-in with rapper Juicy J. Meanwhile, Barry tries to help Neal overcome an unappealing addiction in the all-new “How to Survive Your Parents’ Visit” episode of COOPER BARRETT’S GUIDE TO SURVIVING LIFE airing Sunday, April 17 (7:30-8:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. What do you think? Are you a fan of the Cooper Barrett’s Guide to Surviving Life TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
Loooved the show to be honest and was very sad to knw its cancelled but i got to say it not something new to fox to cancel awesome shows (star wars, family guy…) and so on .. i just hope theyll look back on their decision and air back at least for a second season
Thought the shoe was awesome and I am 58. Fair shot they got for an audience during SNF
This shows great….its fox’s fault because they didn’t advertise this show well at all!!! I had no idea what it was…I thought it was a kids show and just happened to catch it one day and was pleasantly entertained!!! Should have had a second season at the very least!!!
I think this show should be renewed at least for a second season, it has potential and cheesy laughs.
Please renew this show!! It is corny but hilarious at the same time. Whoever doesn’t like this show truly has no sense of humor.
This show better get cancelled. It’s way to vulgar for television. To all of you fans, please consider the effect the show has on children.
Children have to grow up sometime. With all the ability in this day and age to simply avoid what you don’t like it always seems petty to me when people are so passionate about taking away things other people may like. Just part of the narcissistic, “my world and you are all just living in it” mentality of people. You should get over yourself, Greg.
Ok first of all its not meant for kids, the rating is TV-14 so now we have that out of the way, its really tame for a fox comedy, ive seen worse on hbo also it did get cancelled but it wasnt because of the “vulgarity” as you seem to think, it was because the humor was really bad. You would love tv here in the uk! nothing but swearing, violence and sex (after 9pm) no censorship either and we dont have tv ratings so there is no heads up as to what might appear
It’s dead.
Horrible sitcom. Hope Cooper Barrett gets cancelled soon 🙁
I’ve watched two episodes, Tran. I can understand why the show has not done well in the ratings and expect it will be cancelled. I still feel bad for the people who work on it and the fans, though.
