Kiefer Sutherland is no stranger to television viewers, having starred on more than 200 episodes of 24 on FOX. Will Designated Survivor be as big a success for ABC? Will it be cancelled after one year or, will it be renewed for a second season? Stay tuned.
A political thriller, Designated Survivor follows Tom Kirkman (Kiefer Sutherland), a lower-level Cabinet member, who ends up becoming the President of the United States. He struggles to keep the country and his own family from falling apart — while navigating the highly-volatile political arena and leading the search to find who is responsible for a horrific attack. The rest of the cast includes Natascha McElhone, Adan Canto, Italia Ricci, LaMonica Garrett, Tanner Buchanan, Kal Penn, and Maggie Q.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — typically around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
5/18 update: You can see the rest of the latest night’s ratings.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you like the Designated Survivor TV series on ABC? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
5/11 update: ABC has renewed Designated Survivor for a second season. Details here.
It started out okay, until they started preaching their liberal politics and then it got very boring, very fast. They also messed up when the VP was killed, and they lost all the tension that was building there. My prediction is it will be canceled because of its phony liberal hogwash. And the pres in soooo wonderful…please stop me from throwing up!
Please keep the show. Its great and love the action plus the political agennda
I love this show. Please renew it. It would be great if it was in the nine o’clock time spot.
This was the best show in a very long time
Please renew!!!
I love this show. I sit on the edge of my seat like I used to watch 24. Keizer Sutherland is excellent. Please keep the show on. Thank you!!
Favorite show, I watch this every week. Keep it!!!!
It’s my favorite show. As long as Maggie Q is there I’ll be watching 100%. Check out her Nikita series on Netflix.
Political thriller? More like a political yawner!
Who dreamt up keeping Kiefer Sutherland, who defined the TV action genre (on 24), cooped up in the Oval Office wringing his hands over art funding for an obscure school band?
Remember the kinder, gentler Kiefer on Touch? How’d that work out?
Better not kill off rogue FBI Agent Hannah Wells! Ironically, she’s the female version of Jack Bauer.
The political sausage-making is killing this show.
Show went totally liberal crap last week and even more in your face this week. If there are enough people who want to watch, ok with me as I just switched over to Sportscenter. Very neutral.
Love it – I am at episode 15 and there is a change I dont like. All is moving faster and converstions are too fast and neglegted. Just love it but what happened?
My husband & I just love the show. It keeps us glued to it & we can’t wait for the next episode to play.
this is a great show please renew look forward to it every week
Didn’t like the current political talking point episode where president Kirkman isn’t kidding and blames job losses on “automation”. As if the whole outsourcing phenomenon hasn’t been mentioned over the past two decades and manufacturers still put labels on stuff that tells where it was made. Although, not surprisingly, the government is trying to hide where our food comes from with the elimination of the COOL act (aka country of origin labeling). Wonder what the government will try to hide next.
David, technological improvement/automation is a reason for job loss, and has been through the ages and likely always will. Even jobs that moved overseas are being lost to automation so even if they had stayed in the US, we still would have lost those jobs. But I agree, I look for country of origin when I shop.
Carrier didn’t move to Mexico because they have better automation.
Country of origin labeling is a relatively recent practice mandated I believe during the Obama administration. I worked in a grocery store produce department at the time of implementation where the requirements of the policy placed an unsustainable burden on store employees which required additional unfunded monitoring by government agencies. If their is a rollback on this program it is probably as a rollback of what is viewed as burdensome regulation by Republicans.
Thats incorrect. The COOL act was enacted during Bush Jrs tenure. It was created in 2002 and expanded in 08. It was eliminated while Obama was president.
PLEASE renew!!! This show is amazing ! I look forward to it every week. My favorite show. The cast is fabulous!
