FOX pulled the Tim Minear action series Drive off the air after only two weeks and four episodes due to low ratings. The network had given the series a truckload of promotion but, for whatever reason, the series didn’t catch on — at least as quickly as FOX would have liked. Would the series ever return?
FOX has announced that Drive will be returning to primetime. Unfortunately it will be a one-time event. The network will run the unaired fifth and sixth episodes of Drive on July 4th — one of the least-watched nights of regular television. They’re also calling them the “final episodes” which means the show has indeed been cancelled and viewers have no chance of ever seeing the race’s conclusion.
True fans might want to visit the Tim Minear website where they can read the scripts of the first four episodes of Drive. But beware of spoilers — due to some editing changes, some scenes in the episodes three and four scripts were shifted to appear in later episodes. Maybe we’ll get lucky and the site will post scripts for unfilmed episodes sometime in the future. Stay tuned!
Update: The episodes have since been rescheduled to air on Friday, July 13th.
Drive is to the automotive enthusiast what American Idol is to brain dead idiots.
I guess you can’t sell as much commercial time to an audience that is mentally prepared to find their entertainment elsewhere if you don’t offer quality television. Better yet, sell it to HBO I’m sure they’d do an even better job with it, afterall the Sopranos are finished.
Fox is making a terrible decision dropping Drive. You have networks such as Spike and The Discovery Channel making a killing appealing to the gearheads!
WAKE UP FOX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A great edge of your seat show, and the dipwads at FOX have to remove it. Maybe some other network can get it and take over continueing the series. It has happened before.
WEll we turned on the DVR player to watch DRIVE only to see some other junk in it’s place….Boooooo to you Fox!
Bring it back
DRIVE had terrible actors and actresses. I liked the idea of it… but all of the characters were fake and had the talent have of an extra. And what’s with Kristin Leman trying to look and be like Uma Thurman… I didn’t understand it. Also Nathan Fillion was a terrible actor.
But I have to admit Fox didn’t give people time to get hooked on it. It can’t measure all of their new shows on 24, Prison Break and American Idol.
But sadly the best thing about DRIVE was the theme song.
But it was a….
POINTLESS SHOW.
If anyone from Fox actually reads this – LOOK HOW MUCH $$$ FIREFLY MADE IN DVD SALES FOR THE BOX SET! Who feels like an idiot now?
You could have at least given us a whole series of Drive. You put these shows on at the worst times. It’s your fault they didn’t match up to your ‘Oh we’re so great’ expected viewing numbers.
Stop giving us bad reality shows, and give the gems a chance.
I can’t believe they are taking this show off. it rocks!!
by ep 3 i was hooked!
FOX SUCK BALLZZZZ
what can we do to get it back on?
I liked the show and was very disappointed when I tuned in and it wasn’t there, took me a while to find out why. I would like to see it brought back. Maybe start it over and show all the episodes.
drive was a great show you guys always ruin things for real tv series fans this show was great I was really getting into it just after two shows and then you take that from me I don’t think i’ll watch fox again i’m putting my parental block on that station!!!!
This is bull because Drive was a good show and just becauase it was aired on a night of the week where other series were going on and in the middle of the season is why it had awful ratings. And since when does ratings tell how good a show is or not? Why not try playing the series in the fall when the new line up comes out. Would it only make sense to grab the viewers when the season begins and not when it is almost over. Who does FOX have working for them anyways, sounds like the… Read more »
Drive was exciting with great turns on each episode WHY DON’T U GIVE IT A TRY. I LOVE DRIVE PUT IT BACK ON THE AIR.
What happened to the days when shows were allowed to go into reruns to pick up an audience. All in the family was one of those shows and look what became of that. I can’t believe that the executives at Fox have even the slightest notion of the interests of the viewers. It is a shame and one that will start me boycotting stations like theirs. No wonder people are going to the pay channels to watch TV series.
Maybe “Drive” will have a similar following like the other FOX show “Family Guy”.
It’s beyond me why they still try and sell shows to FOX.
Series on FOX never get what they deserve, either they are canceled way to early, or they have to run until nobody wants to see them anymore….
Not even the people involved in making the shows (X-Files anyone?)
I knew before Drive even started that FOX would cancel it after only a few eps, I watched it anyways…
I dont know why I even bother anymore…
In my book FOX is a four letter word.
the show was wonderful! I thought it was better then 24. I am so upset It was only two weeks. Poeple would have cought on, all they had to do is watch the show one time.
Let’s do what Star
trek fans did
Sign a really long petition and send it to Fox!
