On NBC’s ER, Doctor Doug Ross (George Clooney) and Nurse Carol Hathaway (Julianna Margulies) shared a very close and sometimes intimate relationship. Clooney left the show in 1999 to pursue a movie career but reprised his role for a quick (and satisfying) reunion scene when Margulies left a year later.
Both actors moved on to other things but found the time to return for one last episode, “Old Times,” in ER’s final season.
Well, the two actors will be reuniting again on Sunday night. Margulies will be presenting her old friend with the Bob Hope Humanitarian Award at the Emmy Awards ceremony.
The award was established in 2002 in recognition of Bob Hope’s contributions to the development of radio and television as a family medium and as a platform for political and social growth. Past recipients have included Oprah Winfrey, Bill Cosby, and Danny Thomas (posthumously).
Margulies may pick up an award herself on Sunday night since she’s been nominated for her CBS show, The Good Wife.
