Like many of the shows on the UPN and the WB, the recently-announced network merger has left Everwood fans hanging. With only half as much airtime to fill, execs at the new CW network have some tough choices to make. Shows like Veronica Mars, Gilmore Girls and Smallville seem like a shoe-in for return but a show like Everwood has a less than certain fate.
The first CW schedule won’t be released for quite awhile but the future doesn’t look promising for the drama series for a couple reasons. Everwood hasn’t shown great numbers and has been off the air for months. The latter is in part due to the fact that reruns of the show typically don’t do well in the ratings. In addition, Everwood creator Greg Berlanti recently signed a three-year production deal with competing studio Disney. Though he’ll be busy with other projects, Berlanti reportedly expressed hope that the show will see a fifth season.
Fortunately for viewers, Executive Producer Rina Mimoun isn’t taking chances. It’s been said that she’s preparing two alternate scripts for this season’s final show — a season finale and a series finale — so that show fans won’t be left hanging if the show doesn’t return.
The Treat Williams drama is scheduled to return to the WB airwaves on March 27, 2006 with the remaining new episodes of the 2005-06 season.
we are all disgusted here in upstate new york. This was the best show to come on in a long long time and now they have cancelled it. We ALL were watching it. Husbands included. It was a nice and exciting show. It addressed real life. It wasn’t crap. It had beautiful actors and loads of potential. What a grave mistake has been made by those who made the decision to cancel this show. It would have gone down in history as the best of the best in TV series. We are all trying to figure out how to boycott… Read more »
We love Everwood. There are so few good TV shows that we are watching less and less. Everwood is our number one favorite. We were unable to watch the “finale” so we taped it and will watch it tonight.

This was truly an enrtertaining show for all ages. From the beginning of Dr. Brown seeing his dead wife to finally saying goodbye to her. I am in my fifties, but I really know a great script a fine acting when I see them. This show was at the top each and every eposode. I related to the you characters, for I was once was young like them. This show was top knotch from the acting to the stories to the scenery. Once in a great while a show as good like this comes along. The last show I know… Read more »
I really think that if they decided to “renew” Everwood it would be great! The Series Finale added a whole new, and exciting twist. I really think that if an audience member saw ONLY the Series Finale of Everwood, they’d be hooked and want more. This is a great opportunity for Everwood to get some more ratings, and maybe a different time slot. It is truely a great, heart-warming and quality show that deserves another chance. PLEASE RENEW EVERWOOD.
The WB created more great shows in the last six years than any other network. It is an impressive accomplishment for a smaller network to win the ratings for favorite shows in our household. We love Everwood and cannot believe that the show has been cancelled. The characters are well-rounded, are more real and more believable than any on TV. I could see that show go on for at least another five years. Bright has become vulnerable, he and Hannah should get together and create a wonderful life together. It would be a great storyline to watch. Of course, Amy… Read more »
I hate that one of the best shows to come along in a long time has been cancelled!!! It is a show that everyone in the family can relate too. It showed how to handle problems sensibly and the outcome no matter what choice is made. I surely hope another network picks this show up and gives it another chance with a little more publicity!!! What can we do?
My family and I are upset as we just watched the series ending and I think they have several seasons left to tell, this is the best show on television, let go of one tree hill and or smallville, but keep EVERWOOD

Everwood is one of the best shows on TV. I am very disappointed that the networks have removed this great great show. This is the only show that I got my husband to watch with me. We are both HUGE fans. Please keep this show on the air! I love this show. What can we do to keep this?

I am very disappointed that Everwood has been cancelled. My husband and I have been watching this from the first episode. We feel that the people are very real and the messages they bring about life ring so true. We watch very little T.V. and we are not fond of all the reality shows today, so this series brought a lot of enjoyment for us. We truly will miss these people because they became a part of our family. June 5, 2006
My daughter and I are very disheartened about the cancelation of Everwood. It is truly one of the best dramas on television today. It is one of the few “quality” tv shows available. My daughter and I love to discuss Everwood episodes and all of its characters. It makes us laugh, cry, and gives us something to look forward to on Mondays. Believe me, not everyone is into reality tv. Please reconsider and keep Everwood alive and well! We love this show!!!!
Sincerely,
Ann Gatewood
When I finally get into a show that makes sense and is good tv, they end it. This show is great and I hope it continues next year.

To all the Everwood fans,
SAVE EVERWOOD!
We all must do everything we can to save this wonderful show and proove to the TV executives that meaningful, heart-filled, quality programs are far more popular than the life of a young superman or the life of two supernatural fighters. It’s very depressing. Write letters, send emails, or make phone calls. You know I will be doing my part.
Sincerely,
