Like many of the shows on the UPN and the WB, the recently-announced network merger has left Everwood fans hanging. With only half as much airtime to fill, execs at the new CW network have some tough choices to make. Shows like Veronica Mars, Gilmore Girls and Smallville seem like a shoe-in for return but a show like Everwood has a less than certain fate.
The first CW schedule won’t be released for quite awhile but the future doesn’t look promising for the drama series for a couple reasons. Everwood hasn’t shown great numbers and has been off the air for months. The latter is in part due to the fact that reruns of the show typically don’t do well in the ratings. In addition, Everwood creator Greg Berlanti recently signed a three-year production deal with competing studio Disney. Though he’ll be busy with other projects, Berlanti reportedly expressed hope that the show will see a fifth season.
Fortunately for viewers, Executive Producer Rina Mimoun isn’t taking chances. It’s been said that she’s preparing two alternate scripts for this season’s final show — a season finale and a series finale — so that show fans won’t be left hanging if the show doesn’t return.
The Treat Williams drama is scheduled to return to the WB airwaves on March 27, 2006 with the remaining new episodes of the 2005-06 season. 
i think that it is stupid that they canceled Everwood. Everwood is the best show in the whole its something to look forward to see everyday.
Why did you have to cancel an amazing show. Come on what is wrong with you people your taking away a good show that all these people love.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Please make another season of everwood!!!!!!!! I am begging you. I am a young person and yess I LOVE everwood. ever since it came on ABC family i think it got a second chance because so many more viewers came like me! It is the most realistic show i have ever seen and I think it deserves a 5th season and maybe even a sixth season.I mean seriously everyhting perfect is happening right now amy and epharm…Andy and Nina…Bright and Hannah are “best friends” and hopefully more if you make another season.I seriously LOVE the show… Read more »
It would be a huge mistake to take Everwood off the air. Everwood is a great show that my entire family loves to watch. Please keep it on another season.
Why in the world would you cancel Everwood?? Everwood is much closer to reality than America’s Next Top Model, Smallville or even The Gilmore Girls. People want a show that they can relate to, why do you think those reality series are so popular?? Everwood actually displays the struggle between family members, and that a relationship with the opposite sex is more complex than those fairy tale romances in all of the rest of our tv shows and movie productions. boy what a huge mistake to take everwood off the air. this was a wonderful show. i would record this show if i couldn’t get to watch it and this gave my son and i time together. neither one of us would watch this show unless we were together. we have watched just about every episode, we may have missed taping one or two and that is it. this was excellent bonding time with my son. we would talk about what was going in the show and the right and wrong things. man, what a HUGE HUGE mistake. that lincoln… Read more »
I just found Everwood a few months ago and have not missed an episode yet. I wish it were staying on for another season as I just found it. Why are all the good shows canceled?
I was and still am very upset, that the CW canceled Everwood. The cra[p thats on the new CW really isn’t worth watching anymore, Gilmore girls has taken on such an odd twist I don’t typically watch it, as for there new lineup its not really in anyones best interest to follow this channel, except for CW.. I have now switched from the CW to USA as there lineup has more to offer.. If ever wood were an r rated or filthy cursing all through it, people would be marching in the streets demanding it stay on the air . but if it supports morals and the rights of decent folk then it gets canned before its ever given a chance . Due to a fortunate change in scheduling of reruns this past season I first ” found ” Everwood as I waited for my beloved Gimore Girls ( having somehow missed both shows on prime time ) ! In the midst of passing-time and not-really-paying-attention the FIRST episode of Everwood caught my attention and I was HOOKED . hi, im going to start by saying the thing that everyone on this thing has been saying. i cant believe u cancelled everwood. it was such a great show, so much better than most of the other ones. like, 7th heaven? smallville? one tree hill? everwood was 10 times better than all those shows. and id like to say that im not a 40 year old mom or a 60 year old grandmother or something. im 14, and i LOOOOVE that show. it was something that my whole family would watch every monday and it was something evryone liked. and… Read more »
I watched everwood from the day it started. I connected with not only the young love aspect, but the harsh reality of cancer in my life. This show helped me through some tough times the past few years. People never fully understand what it means when a show like this really touches your life, please rethink your decision people like me need a little hope in their life. thank you
EVERWOOD NEEDS TO RETURN!!! I’ve been watching reruns on ABC family and I LOVE THIS SHOW! It is a great show with a wonderful cast. How can you leave all of the fans hanging! Just four seasons, thats not enough!!!!! You really should reconsider not doing another season.
