Liam James is Ben/Adam Warren. Andrew McCarthy is Hank Asher. Floriana Lima is Bridey Cruz. Young Willa and Danny are played by Madeleine Arthur and Rarmian Newton.

Claire finally realizes what Adam and Ben endured when she visits the hell hole-like tomb where they were kept, exploding with grief, anger and frustration. Meanwhile Jane looks to make a getaway as Nina closes in on Doug’s location, and Agent Clements’ time is running out. Hank comes face to face with his inner demons, and one phone call shatters Ben’s world, forcing him to tackle an uncertain destiny.

The Family was canceled due to low ratings. As of the May 8th episode, the series averaged 0.83 in the 18-49 year-old viewer demographic and drew an average total audience of 3.276 million viewers. We have been tracking 25 scripted ABC series during the 2015-16 television season. Those numbers leave The Family ranked 21st out of 25, when sorted by both the demo and total average audience.

ABC cancelled The Family on Thursday, May 12, 2016, so this first season finale was not written as an intentional TV series finale. If the audience will get sufficient closure or satisfaction from “What Took So Long,” remains to be seen.

I thought this series was great. Very different then anything else out there and always kept me on the edge of my seat. I hope they reconsider and give us a season 2!
The family should definitely not be cancelled one of the best line ups I have seen on abc in a long time. Once upon a time, (which is my families favorite), the family and then quantico. Perfect for one of my only evenings off work. Also the 11 o clock news which I watch nightly.
BRING THE SHOW BACK IT IS LITERALLY THE BEST SHOW EVER I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY IT WAS CANCELLED IN THE FIRST PLACE THEY HAVE TO BRING IT BACK RIGHT THIS SECOND OR ELSEEEEEE

I think this stinks totally. Such a good show finally and ABC cancels. Why? To put meaningless shows on like the bachelor and bachlorette. I’m am totally disgusted and vey disappointed.

Say it isn’t so!!! My daughter and I are totally hooked on The Family… binge watched the first 10 episodes on demand and waited a whole week to see the final episode…it is a great show!!
DISAPPOINTED! Good season finale – some surprises.
So sad this show is cancelled (although I saw it coming). I wish it would have at least ended the show with some closure not cancel it after the biggest cliff hanger. Sad that shows like this with great plot and twist and turns gets cancelled but mindless, one-liner comedies stays on for years.
The family was thoroughly engrossing. I find it disappointing that we won’t find out what happens to Adam. So sorry it’s been cancelled.
