The Family stars Joan Allen stars as Claire Warren, Alison Pill as Willa Warren, Rupert Graves as John Warren, and Zach Gilford as Danny Warren. Margot Bingham is Detective Nina Meyer. Liam James is Ben/Adam Warren. Andrew McCarthy is Hank Asher. Floriana Lima is Bridey Cruz. Young Willa and Danny are played by Madeleine Arthur and Rarmian Newton.

Claire finally realizes what Adam and Ben endured when she visits the hell hole-like tomb where they were kept, exploding with grief, anger and frustration. Meanwhile Jane looks to make a getaway as Nina closes in on Doug’s location, and Agent Clements’ time is running out. Hank comes face to face with his inner demons, and one phone call shatters Ben’s world, forcing him to tackle an uncertain destiny.

The Family was canceled due to low ratings. As of the May 8th episode, the series averaged 0.83 in the 18-49 year-old viewer demographic and drew an average total audience of 3.276 million viewers. We have been tracking 25 scripted ABC series during the 2015-16 television season. Those numbers leave The Family ranked 21st out of 25, when sorted by both the demo and total average audience.

ABC cancelled The Family on Thursday, May 12, 2016, so this first season finale was not written as an intentional TV series finale. If the audience will get sufficient closure or satisfaction from “What Took So Long,” remains to be seen.

So disappointed “The Family” was cancelled. My husband and I loved it from the start; every episode was filled with suspense. Though it had many twists and turns, it was put together very well, and it was easy to follow the story line. I hope it is brought back.

My husband and myself really enjoyed The Family, it always kept us wanting more after it was over. Please, please bring it back. It wasn’t given much of a chance and ABC let’s other series that aren’t that good to begin with and they are still playing ,season after season. I had stopped watching ABC because of its awful series and shows, but then when the Family aired, I was hooked again on ABC. Please I ask again to give it another chance, please. Sincerely, Laura E. i was so anxious to watch the next season. I can t wait for the next episodes. I am very disappointed. I think ABC should give to the serrie a second chance. I really enjoy wathcing it.
Why would you cancel this show and leave everyone in Limbo. I am so disappointed. What a great show!! ABC should have done more promoting. Is it possible to make it a Netflix series???

What a cliff hanger !!! My husband and I are so disappointed. What a show !!! We thought it was very interesting all the twists and the acting was fantastic!! Sorry that we will never know who killed the reporter and what happens with Adam and Ben. And Willa wow she was fantastic!!

Quit upset they cancelled it-I am not sure what ABC is thinking-I work evenings so my highlight during the week is watching the Family and Nashville and to find out both are cancelled makes me angry.

Why do you starting the viewers to watch a show to then cut them out of finding the final out come of the story. That’s like reading half a book without a final ending. All networks live by rating!! Shame on you for continuing the series without the final outcome of the two boys. Thanks for wasting my time on a half ass story.
