The Family stars Joan Allen stars as Claire Warren, Alison Pill as Willa Warren, Rupert Graves as John Warren, and Zach Gilford as Danny Warren. Margot Bingham is Detective Nina Meyer. Liam James is Ben/Adam Warren. Andrew McCarthy is Hank Asher. Floriana Lima is Bridey Cruz. Young Willa and Danny are played by Madeleine Arthur and Rarmian Newton.

Claire finally realizes what Adam and Ben endured when she visits the hell hole-like tomb where they were kept, exploding with grief, anger and frustration. Meanwhile Jane looks to make a getaway as Nina closes in on Doug’s location, and Agent Clements’ time is running out. Hank comes face to face with his inner demons, and one phone call shatters Ben’s world, forcing him to tackle an uncertain destiny.

The Family was canceled due to low ratings. As of the May 8th episode, the series averaged 0.83 in the 18-49 year-old viewer demographic and drew an average total audience of 3.276 million viewers. We have been tracking 25 scripted ABC series during the 2015-16 television season. Those numbers leave The Family ranked 21st out of 25, when sorted by both the demo and total average audience.

ABC cancelled The Family on Thursday, May 12, 2016, so this first season finale was not written as an intentional TV series finale. If the audience will get sufficient closure or satisfaction from “What Took So Long,” remains to be seen.

Not sure where the “stats” for cancelling this show came from, but my entire family ages 14 – 53 LOVED this series we were hooked BIG TIME. Can’t imagine why it wasn’t given a shot and yet Grey’s Anatomy which is more than well done, still airs. Not your best call “guys”…reconsider.

They can’t cancel this show! I just binge watched the entire season on HuLu!!! It’s so good and the cliff hanger at the end of the season left so many questions. I have to find out what happens?!? Please bring this show back

This was too Clinton-esque for an election year. This was a good show. What happened to partner show, Thirteen on BBC America. Makes one question the media.
Why sell this seri to Europe if there is not a second Season?
I watched first season in Spain and im so irritated when i read it is not new season, I can’t understand a good show get canceled without a ending but get sell to other countries. Why leave the end open if they not going to make new season? why not close all the incomplate wefts. I’m indignate and sad
Please stop canceling all the good stuff on tv im so sick of scripted reality tv first extant loved it…… now this is just a blow to my stomach and heart i absolutely positively love the family please give it o e more chance im recruiting every one i know to watch the first season n im sure once they get a taste of this show they are going to want more plz plz plz bring this show back,!!!’!!!
I couldn’t believe it was cancelled!! I thought it would be back in fall but obviously not. The What Took So Long episode as the Finale makes it worse for having watched from the start. Please abc restore the series. We are counting on you

My mother and I LOVE this show & I’ve been waiting months to see the second season so that’s what led me here now and seeing that it has been cancelled. My heart sunk !!!! This is the first and only show I’ve liked since Grey’s Anatomy came on.
Please guys…what can we do to keep this show or perhaps get it picked on another network! This show was so underpromoted and if it wasn’t for Hulu, I probably would not have discovered it’s phenomonal storyline, writing and great actors…I don’t want to miss this story, networks really need to do better and consider public awareness before cancellations. This show is so worthy of another deal.
