TV show description:
A fantasy crime drama, this TV series follows New York City’s star medical examiner — Doctor Henry Morgan (Ioan Gruffudd), handsome man with a secret past. No matter how hard he tries, Henry can’t age even a single day — he’s immortal. He doesn’t know much about what happens when he “dies” except that everything on him disappears and he reemerges in a body of water, naked.
Henry doesn’t just study the dead to solve criminal cases however. He does it to try to solve the mystery that has eluded him for 200 years — the reason for his own inexplicable immortality.
Henry’s long life has given him remarkable observation skills which impresses his new partner, Detective Jo Martinez (Alana De La Garza). This piques her curiosity about who he is. Each new case and their budding friendship reveal layers of Henry’s long and colorful past. Jo’s sharp, no-nonsense instincts and her ability to close difficult cases have given her a tough-as-nails reputation on the force, despite also dealing with the untimely loss of her husband.
Lucas Wan (Joel David Moore) is a twenty-something self-proclaimed “artisan of death” and Henry’s worshipful assistant. He considers mortuary science an art, and Henry its Picasso. After transplanting to New York City from rural Ohio, Lucas worked up the courage to introduce himself to the star medical examiner at a crime scene.
A Brooklyn native, Detective Hanson (Donnie Keshawarz) works alongside Jo and has worked his way up to the NYPD’s elite squad of homicide detectives. He’s a family man who lives with his wife and two children in Queens. Unafraid of bending the rules to get the job done, Hanson is sometimes skeptical of Henry’s talent but often admires its effectiveness.
No one knows Henry better than his best friend and confidant, an antique shop owner named Abe (Judd Hirsch). The keeper of Henry’s immortality secret, Abe’s “carpe diem” philosophy inspires Henry to get more in touch with the beauty of living. Abe is not immortal but he is determined to make the most out of every moment of life.
Episode #22 — The Last Death of Henry Morgan
Henry and Adam have been on a long, unrelenting collision course, which is about to come to a head – possibly bringing about one man’s death – with only Jo standing in the way. Henry and Jo’s murder investigation into a museum worker’s death centers on a priceless missing ancient dagger, which not only ended the life of Julius Caesar, but also killed Adam the first time.
Meanwhile, Adam knows that there is something that Henry fears more than death – that Jo might discover his mystery. The two men tangle in a tumultuous game-changing confrontation.
First aired: May 5, 2015.
What do you think? Do you like the Forever TV show? Do you think it should have been cancelled or renewed for a second season?
This one must keeps going! It is not just another Sherlock Holmes! The characters are emotionally intriguing where other shows have failed to have that chemistry and or depth.
If it won’t make it on ABC then let it go to a sci fi network. It has an audience it just needs a chance!
Please keep this show it is so interesting.
i love shows about immortality and fictional stuff!!!!! it’s alot of fun to watch and to wonder what it would be like to live forever and to wonder what you would dop or who you would meet along the way !!!!!
i really like Forever i hope it makes alot of seasons !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They should give shows a better chance. I really looked forward to this show starting , and enjoyed what I have seen so far. I hope they keep it on the air.
Good show, characters, actors, premise. Hoping it will stay on instead of some other reality show.
This is a wonderful thoughtful show that probably won’t last because it is interesting. With the crap that stays on I can’t imagine anything as good as this staying around.
Great show!
PLEASE PLEAAE KEEP FOR. Full season!! Love this show!!! Henry is a hottie and I didn’t know the person that plays Abe was also in Independence Day! Please keep this show! It is rare that find a actual good t v show that isn’t reality ( love the Goldbergs too) please don’t cancel prematurely like cbs did w moonlight several years ago!!! Come on abc u guys gave castle a chance and look 7 seasons! Please abc listen unto is fans!!!!
Great Show….keep reality shows away!!
Forever, had a new refreshing twist to the crime drama type. I enjoyed it, and look forward to watching more shows. Please DO NOT cancel.
My one really gigantic disappointment is that they moved it to run against Chicago Fire and Person Of Interest. Two shows I already have time into and won’t take off the DVR, and since I can’t watch anything other than something already recorded then I just have to forego this show. That’s a shame because I thought the pilot was pretty good. Much better than a couple other pilots I’ve seen recently. I think their programming could very well lead to an early cancell if they don’t switch it at some point. Going up against two shows with strong fan… Read more »
Chicago Fire is on NBC video on demand, if you have cable, and will be there from tomorrow for the next few weeks, and Forever is on ABC video on demand, making it so that you can have your cake, and eat it too.
Tundrabeast, really, with all the ways you can view shows now you don’t have to forego this show. I watch this show at ABC.com on my lunch hour at work. I hope this show makes it.
Gee, this looks like a Law and Order reunion. Too bad this show is another ABC ripoff of a FOX show, in this case New Amsterdam (New York’s name before the British took it from the Dutch), which aired five or six years ago. In New Amsterdam, the star was a NYC detective who couldn’t die, and had an African American son in his sixties and owned a jazz bar; this time, in Forever he is a medical examiner who can not die. New Amsterdam did not make it a whole season. This is an excellent cast, and I hope… Read more »
I never heard of that one. Was it any good? Sounds like it didn’t last long. I’ll have to see if I can find it
Wiki it for a synopsis. New Amsterdam had 13 episodes ordered, but they only showed 8 of them. It wasn’t bad, in fact it was promising, but apparently not many people were watching it. Once again, the biggest problem was slow plot development, and viewers who weren’t willing to wait long to see how it played out.
Thanks. I checked Amazon and am on a list if it becomes available. I’m thinking if it does there might be the full 13 episodes unless that writers strike made it so they didn’t go beyond the 8 shown. The trouble is that if it didn’t get much of a fan base being on that short they might not figure it’s worth the expense to sell DVDS. Then again Amazone might get the series to play on their site so who knows? I find a lot of interesting series (Often from the UK) that have great reviews on IMBD from… Read more »
If the dvd does exist, you may also check with oldies.com, which has all sorts of movie and music goodies in stock, and generally for a lower price than Amazon. I was able to obtain all sorts of World War II propaganda film that I was able to use as a basis for a term paper. If nothing else, get a free copy of their catalog, which is as large as a copy of Billboard.
Check out oldies.com, if nothing else their catalog is fabulous and FREE.
Renew it ! As I want to find out the secret to live to be 200 years old myself!
Just another Sherlock Holmes, Elementary, Castle, etc. we didn’t really need more of the same.
Ya I do agree w the castle thing BUT we don’t know about the mysterious caller yet!! Give this show a chance!!!
It appears that a lot of people seem to think these posts mean a show is being considered to be yanked. On some maybe, but for these new ones it’s just kind of chit chat about a new show. They generally don’t yank them after the pilot unless they were so bad they shouldn’t have been aired in the first place
