The release of G.I. Joe: Retaliation is nearly five months away but Paramount isn’t going to let that deter them from releasing a new trailer for the feature film during the Super Bowl. If you don’t want to wait that long or sit though the football game, the studio has released the commercial early.
The film revolves around the G.I. Joe Team as they combat Zartan, Storm Shadow, and Firefly who serve under the newly released Cobra Commander. Zartan, last seen disguised as the President of the United States, frames all G.I. Joe operatives as traitors and wipes most of them out in a sneak attack. With all of the world leaders under Cobra’s control and warheads headed towards innocent populaces, the ravaged remaining Joes make a desperate plan to expose the truth and stop Cobra from taking over the world.
(Isn’t it funny that the special effects have come a long way since the animated series but the storylines don’t seem all that different?)
Directed by Jon M. Chu, G.I. Joe: Retaliation stars Dwayne Johnson, Bruce Willis, Channing Tatum, Arnold Vosloo, and Adrianne Palicki. The movie hits theaters on June 29th.
Here’s the Super Bowl commercial, as well as the longer trailer that’s being shown in theaters:
What do you think? When you were a kid, did you ever think you’d see a G.I. Joe movie like this? Will you be going to a theater to see this?
Did you forget that the movie was delayed to March 2013 so that they can convert it to 3D?
