What’s next for Game of Thrones? Recently, star Kit Harington spoke with Deadline about the future of the hit HBO TV show.
Harington plays Jon Snow on the fantasy drama, which finished its seventh season on August 27th. The cast also includes Peter Dinklage, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Lena Headey, Emilia Clarke, Aidan Gillen, Sophie Turner, and Maisie Williams.
Speaking to Deadline, Harington revealed he’ll get to find out soon what happens in the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones:
Well, I’m about to find that out as of quite soon when we get together and do a read-through for the final episodes, which I really can’t describe to you. Only a few people are privy to all that information but it’s what we’ve been waiting for for all these years. We’ve all been discussing in bars as actors and together on set what will happen in the final season, and very soon, we get to find out. Of course, you guys won’t get to find out for a long time.”
But what does Harington think? He predicts some “serious fighting” in the HBO seres’ farewell season:
Exactly, but I mean, if you ask me what I think will happen, I think it’s got to end with some serious fighting. You have to presume that that Army of the Dead is going to take a little while to get south, but we just don’t know. So it’s a hell of an ending because it’s the thing that we’ve all been waiting for, they’re now south of the Wall.”
And with the fighting, he says fans can expect more deaths:
And the thing is, with so few characters left, they (the viewers) should get used to and get ready for next year is Thrones returning to form and killing its main characters quickly. They’re going to go, and they’re going to go fast, and I think that the payoff of our characters not being in great peril this year will be that, next year, it’s going to be a bloodbath.”
The eighth and final season of Game of Thrones is expected to premiere in late 2018.
What do you think? Do you watch Game of Thrones? What do you hope happens in the final season?
Like I said earlier I think this is one of the best shows that has ever aired on television and what I would really like to see it some more mythological creatures more special effects since this is the final episodes they really need to go out in style not just all blood and guts either.
Smily Face. I am a Senior also and agree completely about all that Patricia sai. And, now I hear the final Season may not air until 2019! One critic complained about the quick pace of this Season, but I loved it! I think it was the 5th Season that dragged on and on until the last two episodes. That was least loved Season for me. It may have been the 4th, but it was the Season where Jon was attacked by the Northmen in the end. Up until then it was pretty uninteresting. Also, even though correct, this site never… Read more »
Personally, I think it is mean to make us wait until 2018. I am 74, and who knows whether I’ll even get to see it 😉 However, saying that. I have come to love this story, and admire the acting so highly, the story line that never fails to shock, scare, and satisfy. The next season cannot come soon enough for me. Loved the final episode of this season. Talk about shock effect!! Well done, indeed. Curious though, were body double used for the bedroom scene with Jon and Dany??? Just wondering. Glad it happened though…damn that commitment took FOREVER.
