Despite lackluster ratings, NBC has decided to order four more episodes of their new comedy series, Guys with Kids. This brings the episode total to 17. Animal Practice, the other freshman Wednesday night sitcom, was cancelled a couple weeks ago.
Revolving around a trio of young fathers, Guys with Kids stars Anthony Anderson, Jesse Bradford, Zach Cregger, Tempestt Bledsoe, and Jamie-Lynn Sigler.
A few weeks ago, NBC ordered five additional scripts — presumably giving the network more time to make a decision about the show’s fate. The cast and crew were set to begin working on the last of the original 13 episodes next week.
While Guys with Kids certainly hasn’t been a ratings success, it’s actually performing better than Up All Night and 30 Rock. Meanwhile, fellow newbie sitcoms Go On and The New Normal are two of the network’s highest-rated shows (no doubt at least in part due to having The Voice as a lead-in).
To date, Guys with Kids is averaging a 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 4.28 million total viewers.
What do you think? Do you like the Guys with Kids sitcom? Do you think it should be getting better ratings?
I find this show to be fun for today time. Me and my wife laugh so hard Ty
I think the show is funny! I often laugh out loud. I hope it stays around.
I really hope that more people discover this extremely funny show! My wife and I have not laughed out loud together in years! I am a big Whitney fan as well, however have not enjoyed it much yet this year. I hope it does not bring GWK down!
It is seriously the best new comedy on right now… perfect to watch with your boyfriend without any complaining. NBC be smart get rid of Whitney and make a full comedy night. Put Go On and The New Normal on as the same night with Guys with Kids. People will not be able to resist.
Best new comedy of the year…good family show
Great show. Laugh-out-loud stuff. Watch it with the kids. Everyone laughs!
After watching the Guys with Kids stars perform on Jimmy Fallon’s show, I was excited to start watching the show. A buddy that I work with at DISH was glad to see this stick around, instead of Animal Practice. I’m saving every episode of the show to my DISH Hopper, because it delivers plenty of laughs. It’s nice to have a DVR with 2TB worth of memory; I can save everything I want to. I just hope that these extra episodes turn things around, and we can see a second season.
