After loads of promotion, TV Land has now debuted their original sitcom, Hot in Cleveland. Starring a quartet of sitcom veterans, is the TV show worth watching?
Hot in Cleveland follows three women from Los Angeles who’ve supposedly passed their prime. They’re on their way to Paris to check another item off their “bucket list” when their plane has to land in Cleveland. They quickly learn to love the Midwestern city and take up residence, living in a house that’s got a sassy caretaker. The series stars Valerie Bertinelli, Jane Leeves, Wendie Malick, and Betty White. Future guests include Wayne Knight, Shirley Knight, Huey Lewis, Hal Linden, Susan Lucci, Juliet Mills, Carl Reiner, and Amy Yasbeck.
Executive produced by Sean Hayes (Will & Grace), Todd Milliner, and Suzanne Martin, Hot in Cleveland debuted on June 16th. The first episode attracted 4.75 million viewers with a 1.9 rating in the 25-54 demographic.
While those numbers aren’t great for a regular network, they make Hot in Cleveland the most-watched and highest-rated broadcast in TV Land’s history.
The sitcom got mixed reviews so the big question is, “How many viewers will keep tuning in week after week?” The ratings for new shows typically drop off 10-20% in the second week but even if that many viewers don’t return, TV Land will still likely be very happy with the show’s ratings. There are nine episodes left in season one. Even if the ratings take a big nosedive, they’ll all surely air.
What do you think? Does Hot in Cleveland live up to your expectations? Will you keep watching or should the series be cancelled already?

PLEASE keep this show! I love them so much… this is a show that makes you laugh.
I NEED laughter! I wish I had friends like this! They are worth more than a million dollars!
Bad show–really un-funny–an all time low for Betty White–sure she knows it–and stupid canned laughter to make it worse–you can’t make something that isn’t funny with pitiful, overdone canned laughter
Leave the show!
It’s great, they’re wonderful.
I love this show!!!!!!!!!!!
“Hot in Cleveland” and that “Retired at 35” or something like that are not funny. They are just plain Sitcoms. And please get rid of “The Nanny” that show is horrible. Keep bait car police stories………at least that is all non fiction; Thank You
Very funny show…great writing.
This is November – I have been looking for Hot in Cleveland for one month. Where is it? What network carries it? I was really looking forward to watching this program.
@LBourdon: It’s TV Land series and returns in January for season two.
I wish this would be a series, as I found it so funny and love ALL the stars!!!
@christine ryan: It is a series. It’s coming back in early 2011.
Please Don’t cancel something I love. This is a program worth keeping. ALL the people on here are Great.
It was just OK. It’s very, VERY cheesy and the wife and I both guessed there wouldn’t be a season 2.
It’s great for an easy laugh, but not something I’d turn off any other program to watch.
PLEASE KEEP THIS SHOW, IT IS REFRESHING AND FUNNY. EVERYONE I KNOW LOVES IT . . . .BETTY WHITE – WHAT’S NOT TO LOVE? IT GIVES HOPE TO WOMEN OF THIS AGE !!!~~~
