We all saw it coming. One of the most anticipated TV shows of the new fall season, Lone Star, has been cancelled after two episodes.
Lone Star centers around a handsome conman (James Wolk) who lives a double life to swindle investors and an oil tycoon family. He starts to have regrets and struggles to balance both lives and keep everybody happy. Others in the series are Jon Voight, Adrianne Palicki, Bryce Johnson, David Keith, Eloise Mumford, and Mark Deklin.
The FOX series debuted last week to a very disappointing 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.1 million total viewers. Last night, despite several days of buzz and campaigning to get new viewers, the ratings fell even lower to a 1.0 rating in the demo and 3.23 million viewers. As was the case in week one, many people who started watching tuned out before the episode was over. For whatever reason, it just didn’t click.
Lone Star has been cancelled effective immediately and the three remaining unaired episodes have been shelved. There’s no word if FOX will get around to releasing the remaining episodes at some point in the future.
Last week, the cast and crew were shooting the sixth installment. Production has now been shut down and it’s unclear if that episode was completed.
Lone Star’s spot will be filled by the season three premiere of Lie to Me.
What do you think? Are you sorry to see Lone Star be cancelled? If you watched, where do you think it went wrong?
UPDATE: Subsequent reports have indicated that there are six completed episodes with four left unaired.

I too loved this show. Please give it another chance!
I really am sad to hear this. I thought the show had a fantastic story line, good balance of stars, and some intrigue. It should have played longer than 2 episodes before a conclusion to can it was made. Very disappointing.
I don’t get to watch a lot of TV – this was one of my favorites, what is up with you people
One of the best programs that I had seen in the fall line up. It was the best show and you morons cancel it and put on Lie to Me which is a really stupid program.
I really liked the show! Can’t believe it just was pulled like that! It was interesting, and I was looking forward to the next week. I really don’t think they gave it a chance.
i loved it & want to see it back. his life seemed so interesting and it made me wonder if he would ever get caught….
All I can say is..This is BS!! Lie to me will take lone stars spot…Lie to me is absolute garbage. Any show where the story is carried from 1 ep. to another people dont want to think about it…morons
I loved Lone Star!!! I’m so sorry it got canceled, but then most of the really good shows do get the ax. I guess people just don’t want to think.
Are you kidding???? I’ve been waiting for this show since I saw a preview in a hotel about 2 months ago. I thought it was great!!! So is Raisung Hope which was previewed the same way. What was it up against? Which perhaps explains this. New shows have a hard time against existing hit shows. I think Lone Star is head over heels better than “Boardwalk Empire” which is sooooo slow moving, poorly acted by the lead and is far from Scorsese’s best effort. Other networks should pick this up. It was wonderful and so different in story line.
i just sent fox an email about this. i’m just so disappointed with their decision! this show needed breathing room that the showing of 2 episodes just didn’t afford them. the story needed more time to unfold and fox didn’t give it a chance. shows like this one gain popularity on word of mouth and fox didn’t give us a chance to pass it on to our friends. what a gyp.
That is the last time I watch a Network show. This has happened so many times. It does not happen on cable for some reason. This happened a lot before and for that reason I never watched Lost. But now I know Lost is complete I will rent it from Netflix. Just in the past year: Terminator: The Sara Conner Chronicles, Defying Gravity, Happy Town, and more…. All great shows, all canceled. If Psych, Burn Notice, Battlestar Galactica (the original was canceled in season 1), Mad Men, Stargate SG-1 had been on the networks, I’m sure they would never have… Read more »
I loved the show and would live to see it come back, I do not believe it was given much of a chance and am very disappointed to see it leave.
I totally loved it and started telling friends about it. I could see so many places the show could go and was looking forward to watching it tonight. I am shocked and disappointed it has been canceled. Wow. How could that happen? Attractive characters, unique story line and excellent producing normally do not lead to bad ratings. Maybe they didn’t advertise it enough to get the word out so that people would tune in to the first episode. What a shame.
I loved this show! Please bring it back! It was an intriguing show that filled a network void!
I loved it, what the hell!?! This angers me :/
