We all saw it coming. One of the most anticipated TV shows of the new fall season, Lone Star, has been cancelled after two episodes.
Lone Star centers around a handsome conman (James Wolk) who lives a double life to swindle investors and an oil tycoon family. He starts to have regrets and struggles to balance both lives and keep everybody happy. Others in the series are Jon Voight, Adrianne Palicki, Bryce Johnson, David Keith, Eloise Mumford, and Mark Deklin.
The FOX series debuted last week to a very disappointing 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.1 million total viewers. Last night, despite several days of buzz and campaigning to get new viewers, the ratings fell even lower to a 1.0 rating in the demo and 3.23 million viewers. As was the case in week one, many people who started watching tuned out before the episode was over. For whatever reason, it just didn’t click.
Lone Star has been cancelled effective immediately and the three remaining unaired episodes have been shelved. There’s no word if FOX will get around to releasing the remaining episodes at some point in the future.
Last week, the cast and crew were shooting the sixth installment. Production has now been shut down and it’s unclear if that episode was completed.
Lone Star’s spot will be filled by the season three premiere of Lie to Me.
What do you think? Are you sorry to see Lone Star be cancelled? If you watched, where do you think it went wrong?
UPDATE: Subsequent reports have indicated that there are six completed episodes with four left unaired.

I thought it was very good and I am sad to see Lonestar cancelled.I hope Fox gets the message from all the viewers who liked the show and put it back on the air please.
This week was first time to see Lone Star. It looked interesting, but immediately lost interest. Seen this plot too many times and only the good looking faces were interesting. Plot was to lame!
HOW COULD YOU!!!AFTER ONLY TWO EPISODES. yOU DID NOT EVEN GIVE IT A CHANCE!!! wE THOUGHT IT WAS GREAT. Especially now that the Father was getting into it. Was looking forward to next episode, to see just how the Father was going to take down that company and how the son was going to stop him. We are all so very disappointed. please put it on at another time and give it more publicity and time to catch on.
NOOOOO!!!
Very sad to see this show canceled! I thought it was very interesting and was looking forward to getting deeper into the story line. I hope Fox doesn’t keep the remaining episodes shelved permanently.
Love the show – FOX shoold switch nights – Friday;s time slot – you can’t put it up against Monday Night Football, The Event – I;m tied of FOX cancelling show – ie Termantor – get with it FOX – put it on FX – where do these numbers come from – what about people that record and watch later – is this taken into account
I love this show. I am so upset the show has been cancelled. I looked forward to watching it. I cant believe Fox wont give it a chance.
I am not surprised by the low ratings. A quality show like this is not meant for the major networks. It should have been pitched to a cable station that would have been happy with a smart show that appealed to a smaller number of viewers. Cable could have allowed this show to grow and then win Emmys.
I thought it was a great show!! It’s dumb to expect a new show to go up againts Monday Night Football and come out with spectacular numbers the FIRST weeks. Maybe some other channel will pick it up and put it on a better night like I don’t know Friday or Saturday? Overall I’m not too impressed with FOX…
I loved the show!!! so sad to see it go! maybe try it another night when football isn’t on.. Maybe Friday
No! The first episode left me wanting more! Maybe it is because I’m from the area and was intrigued by the scandoulous and corrupt business side of it, or my desire to see if the main character would get away with a double life, but either way I thought it was good. Boo!
I’ll be honest – there’ve been eight words gnawing at me about the show’s basic premise that the protagonist would be married to two different women. Those eight words are: Christmas Morning, New Year’s Eve, Thanksgiving, and Valentine’s Day. I’ve been married for 10 years, and trust me – there’s no man alive, not even the world’s best con man – who can convince his new wife that there’s some good reason he must be away from her on a couple of those days, much less miss a couple of those dates year in and year out for the the… Read more »
My family liked the show. Any chance it will be picked up by another network? We live near Covington, TX where some parts were filmed.
here goes another show that we only got to watch twice before they decided that it won’t make it instead of trying another time slot or just given it a few more episodes. what gives with putting all this money, time, finding the actors, etc into a show but then having their finger on the cancel button from the start? it is so frustrating for the viewer to know if we should even take a chance on any show!! i really liked it and i truly hope it might get brought back and it does not get placed with yet… Read more »
Tough time slot up against Monday Night Football, would have been better on Friday Night
