We all saw it coming. One of the most anticipated TV shows of the new fall season, Lone Star, has been cancelled after two episodes.
Lone Star centers around a handsome conman (James Wolk) who lives a double life to swindle investors and an oil tycoon family. He starts to have regrets and struggles to balance both lives and keep everybody happy. Others in the series are Jon Voight, Adrianne Palicki, Bryce Johnson, David Keith, Eloise Mumford, and Mark Deklin.
The FOX series debuted last week to a very disappointing 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.1 million total viewers. Last night, despite several days of buzz and campaigning to get new viewers, the ratings fell even lower to a 1.0 rating in the demo and 3.23 million viewers. As was the case in week one, many people who started watching tuned out before the episode was over. For whatever reason, it just didn’t click.
Lone Star has been cancelled effective immediately and the three remaining unaired episodes have been shelved. There’s no word if FOX will get around to releasing the remaining episodes at some point in the future.
Last week, the cast and crew were shooting the sixth installment. Production has now been shut down and it’s unclear if that episode was completed.
Lone Star’s spot will be filled by the season three premiere of Lie to Me.
What do you think? Are you sorry to see Lone Star be cancelled? If you watched, where do you think it went wrong?
UPDATE: Subsequent reports have indicated that there are six completed episodes with four left unaired.

We were really into it! Bring it back. I think the name Lone Star was too much like Lone Rider which was sort of corky. The name turned me off right away but I tried the show and really enjoyed it.
This was the first show I have watched and looked forward to watching on regular tv in more than 3 years. Crazy that I’m the minority thinking that something with a twisted plot is more interesting than “reality” tv / singing / dancing.
it was completely stupid of fox to cancel the show..it was a really good show very interesting….people didnt get a chance to see it because it was maybe conflicting with other shows…it should return…
I thougth it was going to be a great show, i was also looking forward to watching it every week. They should of let it air a few more times to allow for viewers to pick up on it.
please bring this show back i watched both episodes and thought it was amazing and was looking forward to seeing what would happen next. If not at least release the first season on dvd so i can watch it. FOX a good idea is a Thursday night but that’s up to you. We want it back, listen to your viewers comments! If the show is not brought back on i will stop watching FOX.
One of the best shows on TV in a long time. Hate to see it go.
dont cancel lonestar !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Best show I have watched in a long time. I didn’t know it was cancelled, I turned on the TV just to find out there was some other crap. Brig it back, I really got into it. This was the only show I that I would have watched cosistenly. Bring it back!
Best show in a long time although watching the guys dad about to screw him over was tuff to watch and the double life was also disturbing but like i said good show it was like a train wreck you just could not turn away Monday night was a bad night to air it on.
This show would appeal to an older crowd and they are busy with work on Monday try mid week i bet you get a bigger following
Seriously? How can you possibly judge a show with only two episodes? If anymore of my shows are cancelled, I’m canceling cable. Wth!!
I loved the first episode. I was going to watch the second episode, but it was on opposite The Event, and I have a family member associated with that show, so I switched. I wish they had just moved Lone Star to another night–I definitely would be tuning in.
Yeah FOX screwed the pooch on this one! I am so pissed they canceled this show. It was really getting good and had real substance, unlike some of the other crap the air. I think this show had the potential to be HUGE. They didn’t give the viewers enough time to get into the story. It started off slow, which is expected, to build the base and background story for the plot. I feel they canceled it right where it was really starting to ‘pop.’
Bring it back and run it on Wed or Thursday nights at 9:00/10:00. Everything is on Mon and Tues…
Lonestar was cancelled too soon, FOX didn’t give us a chance to view it. I liked it from the beginning, like the story, liked wondering when and how the double life was going to be discovered/found out, but was obviously not given a chance.
I say bring it back, please.
I liked this show was looking forward to having something to watch on Monday nights
