Despite a lot of promotion, My Generation stumbled out of the gate and now ABC has cancelled it after two episodes. If you were watching the ratings, this doesn’t come as a surprise.
My Generation revolves around a diverse group of young adults who attended high school together. While there, they were interviewed for a documentary. They reunite 10 years later and we see how their lives and expectations have changed. The ensemble cast includes Anne Son, Daniella Alonso, Jaime King, Julian Morris, Keir O’Donnell, Kelli Garner, Mehcad Brooks, Michael Stahl-David, and Sebastian Sozzi.
In its first week on the air, My Generation attracted poor ratings with a 1.6 in the 18-49 demographic and 5.2 million total viewers. That was bad enough to land it in fourth place for both categories.

For week two, the numbers were much worse. The show attracted a terrible 1.1 rating in the prized demo and just 3.815 million viewers. For the timeslot, it landed in fourth place in total viewers and in fifth place for the demo, behind even The CW. That’s an amazingly bad performance for a major network.
ABC has now cancelled My Generation and they’re pulling the show from the schedule immediately. Production on the series has been shut down. It’s unknown how many episodes have been completed but it doesn’t seem likely that the network will bother releasing the unaired ones.
A timeslot replacement for the cancelled series is expected to be announced on Monday.

I did enjoy the show and hope the unaired episodes are made available to those of us who invested time in the series. I especially hope to see Michael Stahl-David in another series ASAP. Quite the actor and has the necessary screen presence.
Just great I had my whole week planned for the 2010-2011 season with Thursdays nights watching My Generation at 7pm on Abc and then Fringe at 8pm on Fox and back to Abc at 9pm for Priviate Practice. Due in part that I DVR all of the Cw Networks shows and I watch them on weekeds since I watch Abc, Nbc, Cbs, Tbs, and Abc Family all during the weekday. Now I will have to find something else to fill in the void at 7pm on Thursdays hopefully maybe they will stream them online in the near future.
I never watched the show because from the commercials I thought it was a reality show. It is possible that that’s the reason for the low ratings?
I really thought the show had a lot of potential. The second episode blew the pilot out of the water and I was expecting it to just keep getting better. I was particularly excited to see the next episode featuring the Falcon. They could probably just make a show based on that guy. He looks like he would know how to throw party! Anyway, sad to hear of the shows end. My friends and I were totally watching it.
That makes me so sad they cancelled it. What a waste of hard work and time. Bring it back!!!!!!
If newley born Hercules vs fully grown Fox, challeged, who will be the winner.. and if trying to knock the Big Bang or other popular shows, firstly build the viwers, and then match them, otherwise no brand new program will ever suceed against prime night, Thursday, 8:00 PM…. unless new CEO really against My Generation production altogether….
or change the time slot to other days and many viewers are condemning ABC new policy, and that is not good for new policy, while others are much enjoying ABC inner-conflict!
I cannot believe this crap. TWO episodes and it’s cancelled?!?! WTF?! My Generation was an amazing show with amazing premise and phenomenal cast. ABC just proved to me that they are just about as DUMB as CBS (who canceled COLD CASE). Let me guess, they are going to replace MY GENERATION with another dumb reality show that doesn’t take more than 2 brain cells to watch and understand. How predictable. IT IS REALLY ANNOYING TO CANCEL A SHOW AFTER SOME PEOPLE ENJOY IT. OK IF YOU HAVE TO CANCEL FINE. BUT LET IT RUN OUT, AND AT LEAST HAVE A CONCLUSION FOR THOSE OF US WATCHING. SO NOW YOU STARTED WITH RELATIONSHIPS BUT IF IT JUST ENDS THEN WHAT? THERE WERE A COUPLE OF OTHER SHOWS I GOT INTO THAT JUSTED ENDED. OCTOBER ROAD FOR ONE AND REUNION. So a docu-drama based on a real program the bbc actually did because they showed some foresight has been cancelled. Oh no.
How about putting some effort in and actually making a real documentary?
ok show, but should of been a mini series or something, a full on show with that plot was dumb. and sucks for the cw, if a network is beat by them that means time to cancell the show haha must make the cw feel good ha
The documentary format wasn;t working for me. I think it could have been fixed if you did away with the past and just focus on the current
I watched the first and second episode of My Generation and I was impressed with the quality of the acting. I was really looking forward to the 3rd episode and was shok to find out about it’s cancellation. Please, make arrangements to keep it alive. The plot is excellent!!!
IN MY OPINION MY GENERATION SHOULD NOT BEEN CANCELED. FOR JUST TWO EPISODES WITH POOR RATINGS THAT MEANS A SHOW IS CANCELED? WELL THAT MADE MY THURSDAYS COMPLETE. A docu drama on Thursday at 8 pm sounds wrong. People want sitcoms on that night history proves it. That aside the show itself was bad… The stories didn’t add up. Military wife broke and pregnant while husband away on active duty! Makes no sense. Elementary school teacher who makes you feel like he’s more of a creep than anything else? I am so upset that My Generation got cancelled. i really enjoyed the plot of the show and really wanted to know where it would have gone. uhhh im pissed .
