Despite a lot of promotion, My Generation stumbled out of the gate and now ABC has cancelled it after two episodes. If you were watching the ratings, this doesn’t come as a surprise.
My Generation revolves around a diverse group of young adults who attended high school together. While there, they were interviewed for a documentary. They reunite 10 years later and we see how their lives and expectations have changed. The ensemble cast includes Anne Son, Daniella Alonso, Jaime King, Julian Morris, Keir O’Donnell, Kelli Garner, Mehcad Brooks, Michael Stahl-David, and Sebastian Sozzi.
In its first week on the air, My Generation attracted poor ratings with a 1.6 in the 18-49 demographic and 5.2 million total viewers. That was bad enough to land it in fourth place for both categories.

For week two, the numbers were much worse. The show attracted a terrible 1.1 rating in the prized demo and just 3.815 million viewers. For the timeslot, it landed in fourth place in total viewers and in fifth place for the demo, behind even The CW. That’s an amazingly bad performance for a major network.
ABC has now cancelled My Generation and they’re pulling the show from the schedule immediately. Production on the series has been shut down. It’s unknown how many episodes have been completed but it doesn’t seem likely that the network will bother releasing the unaired ones.
A timeslot replacement for the cancelled series is expected to be announced on Monday.
What do you think? Should My Generation have been cancelled? What about the series didn’t work? Could it have been fixed?

Can’t believe this show was canceled so upset it was great just when u get hook’d they cut it
I’m so MAD!!! Just like October Road they cancelled this one too come on 2 times they played this new one ABC should have given it more times!!! Very upset with ABC!!
OMG– its the only one show that actually keeps me wathcing and wont leave the sofa.
My whole family watches it and intrested in all the characters. I sure hope they find away to answer the questions of these kids…. If there is a way to keep it….. find it…
ITS GOOD from ages 11-44- for females and males in our house…. it must be cause there is not smut, swearing, nudity or other stuff that are in all other shows now.
They barely gave it a chance – two episodes. We were just starting to know the characters. It had good possiblities. They premiered it agains Big Bang & Vampire Diaries and expected a huge audience overnight.
This is ABC – Eli Stone, dirty Sexy money, and I could name ten others. They do not give shows enough chance to build a good audience.
This was a pretty good show. The characters were just starting to develop.
They just did not give it enough time to develop and get a fan base. The show should have been given at least 6 episodes.
I guess we can look forward to the very realistic 30th season of the bachelor from ABC. Everybody on that show can tell us about their AMAZING journey they had while searching for true love.
GREAT decision ABC!! This show was horrible- I could tell from the promos that it wasn’t going to work. The storyline was too cliche and most of the acting was bad. As a member of that generation, I’d rather not be reminded.
Sure would have wanted to see more of MY GENERATION!
YOU DID NOT GIVE IT ENOUGH TIME TO UNFOLD. I ALREADY WAS BEGINNING TO UNDERSTAND WHO WAS WHO.
HOW ABOUT AIRING THE REST OF THE EPISODES THAT DID NOT GET ON?
This. Show. Was. AMAZING. While it lasted… It was a very interesting topic and was very different to the other shows on TV. Isn’t anyone tired of watching vampires over and over again? It may have had tough competition, but canceling the show after only two episodes was not smart; they could have placed it during a different time slot or even a different day. This morning when i heard the news of the cancelation, I immediately called my friend because I even got her into the show this weekend and we were anxiously awaiting this week’s third epidose. Apparantly,… Read more »
I CANNOT BELIEVE THIS!! i LOVED this show and was waiting for the next episode!! 🙁 this really sucks, and PLEASE post the unaired shows!
I am one of the unlucky people out of a job now. They filmed 8 episodes. What a shame, now about 300 of us here in Austin are looking for work.
I’m sorry but again this show was up against CBS Big Bang Theory, NBC Community and CW Vampire Diaries and those shows have been on the air since last season. I think this show should be re-shuffled to another night or finish out airing the remaining episodes and have a TV series finale to close out the series. There are fans out there that would like to see possibly a happy ending to the show. One more comment: Put the remaining episodes during the summer break. 🙂
This is the reason ABC is notorious for cancelling good shows. We understand it’s all about money and ratings, but it should be about the fans too. This was a great concept- as it is the song that played in advertisements for this show is running through my head. I don’t think it was our fault for not watching it enough. I think the problem was not enough promotion AND not giving the show a long enough chance to create buzz. Stop recycling good ideas. My Generation was a wonderful concept. I enjoyed watching it. I’m dissappointed it wasn’t given… Read more »
Love this serial.. I think the story is quite unique and the cast have great chemistry..Perhaps it didn’t have proper promotion
KEEP THE SHOW!! My generation was actually a great show and realistic to today! ABC has crap shows like “The Gatess” and “Happy town”! ABC get some real taste and keep the show running!
DISGRACE!!!! OMG ABC WHY! THIS IS A GREAT SHOW. I REALLY ENJOYED IT. GOSH ABC WHY DO YOU GET RID OF TV SHOWS SO QUICKLY. I COULDN’T WAIT TO SEE NEXT WEEKS EPISODE WHEN THE GUY FINALLY SEES HIS CHILDHOOD SWEETHEART. VERY UPSET AFTER HEARING THIS NEWS.
