The saga of NBC’s medical disaster series continues.
Trauma revolves around a group of brave first responder paramedics in San Francisco. The high-action series is populated by an ensemble cast that includes Derek Luke, Cliff Curtis, Anastasia Griffith, Kevin Rankin, Aimee Garcia, Billy Lush, Jamey Sheridan, and Taylor Kinney.
Back in October, NBC indicated they weren’t ordering any additional episodes of Trauma beyond the initial 13 episode order, effectively cancelling the series. Then, in the wake of the failure of The Jay Leno Show, they ordered seven more episodes to fill primetime space.
When Trauma returned to the NBC schedule after a three month hiatus, the ratings were even worse than they were back in November. If the execs weren’t happy with the ratings before, they were very likely regretting their decision to order additional installments.
According to the Futon Critic, NBC has now cut their additional episode order from seven to five installments. That brings the season total to 18 episodes.
The last episode of the season, and almost certainly the series, will air on April 26th. No word yet if the producers adapted episode 18 so that it could serve as a series finale or if viewers will be left hanging.
What do you think? Are you sorry that Trauma’s episode order has been cut? Are you holding onto hope that it will be back for season two?

I have enjoyed trauma. My daughter and I like to compare notes on our favorite shows. Every time we get a really good one it is taken off of TV. I am sorry to see it go and I will keep my fingers crossed that it will be back!!
BRING BACKK TRAUMA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have to agree with all of the others – NBC along with all of the other networks has something very wrong going on. GET RID OF ALL OF THE REALITY PROGRAMS and give us something with characters and writers to watch rather than a bunch of spoiled kids or want -a – bes who, in reality, know nothing about the real world that most of us live in. Trauma was a good show with characters that I was really getting to know. PLEASE return Trauma and give us more programing like this.
My husband and I love this show. So does my son who’s a paramedic. I have to agree – it has not been marketed well. You never see it advertised!! We love the characters and just hate to see it ending.
My family and I LOVE this show and it is the highlight of our TV week. Unfortunately, we have to record it and watch it later due to work and soccer schedules. It is a GREAT show. You should not go only with how many people are watching it at the time it is aired expecially since it was up against Monday night football on a few occassions. People work and most people I know record the shows they want to watch and watch them later at their convenience and so they can fast forward through all the commercials. I… Read more »
My wife and I loved Trauma. It is the best new show of the season, and we have seen every episode. My wife says she likes every character, and there is no show we can say that about. You always cancel the shows we like.
I LOVE THIS SHOW! BRING IT BACK!!
I truly hate the reality shows and most of the garbage NBC and some of the others have been putting on the air. Every time there is a good decent show – some over paid, educated idiot decides to cancel it!
Well, I didn’t watch anything else on NBC – so – now I wont be watching NBC at all!
Trauma was a great show , what is NBC, and the rest of the country using for brains. All the networks are so hung on their HAHA sitcoms which make the actors all look like idots no matter what they try to do. I for one am very tired of Law & Order, havent’ they
about wore that old sore out?
I LOVE this show!!! Everytime that a great show comes on they cancel it. What the heck is wrong with these executives. I am so tired of reality TV shows that are so stupid and a waste of time. Trauma was a great show with great characters and just as we are starting to get to really know these people they pull the plug again……Leave it alone and keep it on. It is my most favorite new show of the season.
Trauma is a fantastic show with a wonderful cast. And apparently it is another great show that will fall by the wayside due to poor handling. If NBC wanted to save it, they WOULD save it!! This was the only show I even watched on NBC. GOOD-BYE, NBC!
Just wanted to add that this show was very entertaining, and hope it will return in the fall..
I’m sorry to hear that trauma was cancelled again, and agree with others who said that it’s return in March 2010 was not well publisized after a three month hiatus. Perhaps the ratings would have been alot better if fans had known it was back on. I think NBC should show the reruns with alot of publiscity and see if the ratings improve? Then if they improve, then why not take a chance on a second season?
This is a great show and a heck of a lot better than all that reality crap they have. I certainly hope that the suites at NBC give this show a chance again next season. You did it for Friday night Light and there numbers were just as bad. Maybe you should hype it up more.
I love the show Trauma I watch it every week and I am sooo upset that it has been cancelled again! Please bring back this show and maybe if NBC did a little more advertising people would know about the show and watch it. I didn’t even know about it just happened to stumble accross it one day.
KEEP THIS SHOW!!! BY FAR THE BEST SHOW ON TELEVISION!!!
There is not a shadow of a doubt that NBC is failing. You IDIOTS tend to cancel all the good shows and keep the crap that noone wishes to watch. Nice Job.
