Eric McCormack had great success on NBC’s Will & Grace but his TNT series called Trust Me only lasted one season. McCormack’s coming back to cable with a new series called Perception. In this one, McCormack will play a neuroscientist who’s still part of the legal process.
Perception won’t debut until next summer and production has just gotten under way. Here’s the press release from TNT:
TNT Begins Production on Perception, New Drama Series Starring Emmy® Winner Eric McCormack
TNT began production this week on its intriguing new original series Perception, starring Emmy® and Screen Actors Guild Award® winner Eric McCormack (Will & Grace, Who Is Clark Rockefeller?). The series about an eccentric neuroscientist who helps solve complex criminal cases also stars Rachael Leigh Cook (She’s All That), Arjay Smith (The Day After Tomorrow) and Kelly Rowan (The O.C.). TNT has ordered 10 episodes of Perception, which will join the network’s lineup in summer 2012.
In Perception, McCormack plays Dr. Daniel Pierce, a neuroscientist and professor recruited to help the federal government crack difficult cases. His intimate knowledge of human behavior and masterful understanding of the mind give him an extraordinary ability to read people, but his eccentric view of the world and less-than-stellar social skills can often interfere with his work.
Cook co-stars as FBI agent Kate Moretti, Pierce’s former student and the person responsible for recruiting him to work for the government. Smith plays Max Lewicki, the teaching assistant whose primary job is to keep Pierce in line and on task. Rowan is Natalie Vincent, Pierce’s best friend and every bit his intellectual equal. In addition, award-winning actor LeVar Burton (Roots, Star Trek: The Next Generation) will play a recurring role as Paul Haley, a dean at the university.
Perception, which comes to TNT from ABC Studios, was created by executive producer Kenneth Biller (Star Trek: Voyager, Smallville) and co-executive producer Mike Sussman (Star Trek: Enterprise), with McCormack serving as producer. Alan Poul (Six Feet Under) directed and served as executive producer for the pilot. David Eagleman, a professor at Baylor School of Medicine and author of the New York Times Top 10 bestseller Incognito: The Secret Lives of the Brain, serves as a technical consultant on the series.

Loke others wish there could be a marathon-Love this show thought is would be back in late January. Hating having to wait for the summer season
Kind of like the Mentalist, but better. One of our favorite shows
I hope it comes back on. When can we find out?
I would love to see a marathon weekend for this series. NOW-(During the Winter?) I missed most of the episodes during last season – I want more and can’t believe I have to wait till next summer.
Why can’t this be shown in place of something else???
Love the new show Perception and I was hoping TNT would do a marathon Re-run (weekend?) so we can see ALL of season one back to back!
Don’t think I can stand waiting till next summer! I missed most of it during this past season- airing- I hardly watch TV in the summer!!! Bring it back….Please?
This is the most compelling drama regarding schizophrenia I have seen since A Beautiful Mind. My sister is schizophrenia, altnough her hallucinations aren’t visual I can relate to those around this character. PLEASE KEEP IT ON. It’s a great teaching tool as well to those who do not understand this disease.
DEFINITELY DEFINITELY WANT TO SEE MORE OF THE SHOW PERCEPTION. TOTALLY ENTERTAINING!!!
HOPE I DONT MISS ANY OF THE EPISODES~~
perception is a dang good show, I’m always afraid I’m gonna miss it or fall asleep before it comes on. please bring it back. always waiting for the next surprise visitor he sees. mccormick is very believeable. keep em’ comin’
Sorry, fans. I meant Dr. Pierce…..
Kelly, please. Give Dr. Craig a chance for romance and some normalcy in his life. Since he can’t tolerate being around most people, who else would he be able to care about? Certainly not a stranger. Just found out the show was renewed. YEAH, can’t wait for more!
