There was no better news in week two. The new TV series attracted a poor 1.5 in the demo with 5.69 million. That’s a decline of 17% in the demo and the show already couldn’t afford to lose any points. It’s looking like this may be one of NBC’s first cancellations of the season.
Season average: 1.6 demo with 5.87 million.
Episode 01-01: Thursday, 9/22/11
Though it looked like it would be one of the stronger shows on the NBC schedule, the viewers don’t seem to agree. The first episode registered a disappointing 1.8 in the 18-49 demographic and just 6.05 million viewers. It was in third (last) place for the timeslot. What’s more, many viewers turned the program off before the episode finished. That’s not a good sign for next week.
On a positive note, Prime Suspect outperformed last season’s non-celebrity version of The Apprentice by 20%. That’s not much of a consolation though since that edition was a certifiable bomb.
Note: These ratings are collected by the Nielsen company and are the final national numbers. These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings and are reported on by most other outlets. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.
What do you think? Do you like the new Prime Suspect TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
I LOVE “PRIME SUSPECT.” The story lines are great, but the cast is even greater — really terrific acting! Don’t canel it!!!!
I look forward to watching Prime Suspect every week. I don’t understand why they would cancel it. Everyone I know loves it. The actings excellent, the plots are interesting. I will never watch another NBC show if they cancel it. NBC doesn’t even give it a chance. Instead there are mindless sick shows on like SVU for season after season…and they want to cancel a brilliant show like Prime Suspect? Doesn’t make sense, give it another chance, please please!
There are very few shows that I really enjoy but this show is the exception!! I Love the plots and all the characters. My only problem is staying up that late . Most times I watch it OnDemand. Please reconsider and leave this great show on the air!!!
If a show cant get more then 10 million viewers on the 4 major networks it gets the boot 3.6 million viewers just ain’t gonna cut it. Bye Prime suspect you will be missed.
Good role model for what women could be in the future. She is smart, tough, sexy, and professional. I would want my daughter to be like her. Another smart adult show getting whacked. Sad
That would be a giant ‘NO’
I have to admit that I needed to watch at least 3 episodes of this show in order for me to get hooked. But….I GOT HOOKED! It was slow moving in the beginning, and the characters took a while for them to gel, to find out what each was about. I think it needed to move to another time slot, or people needed to give it another chance. I know I was a slow sell, but once I got into the show, I put it in DVR rotation. I’m sorry to see it not renewed. What a well written show… Read more »
This is one of my favorite shows and one I consider one of the best on TV. Acting, directing and plots have always been good and not as predictable as a lot of shows. It’s hard to believe this would be cancelled and the completely boring, repetitive and almost identical sitcoms and other programs with almost identical characters are kept on the air. This season has been full of “specials” which push the things we want to watch off the air and “things” such as another talk show, news expansion show (Thirty Rock) and/or talent show are shown in their… Read more »
They keep boring shows like community and whitney but want to cancel a great show like Prime Suspect? What idiots! If they are dumb enough to do it I just hope TNT picks it up like they did Southland.
Great show shame to see them not invest in it.
This show is funnier than most sitcoms. We laugh out loud throughout the show. It’s also a great drama, well-acted, well-written and did I mention funny? It’s in the top 2 of my list for new shows this season.
Funny? Funny? How is it funny? Just tell me how funny it is. Does it ammuse you?
Love this show also…….why do good shows get cancelled and shows like the Bachelor stay on? Dumbing of America is my guess !
Please don’t cancel this show! Prime Suspect is a great show, has a talented cast and the writers are fantastic! Not to mention it is one of the believable shows since Hill Street Blues! Please, Please…..DON’T CANCEL PRIME SUSPECT!
Sorry to see it go.
It’s a shame that good programs like Prime Suspect get the ax but Harry’s Law gets renewed.
Harry’s Law? What were they thinking? Anyway’s
Bello portrays her character with grit and believability. Perhaps whats missing is a super power. Great acting, writing and direction aren’t enough these days….it’s a shame!
[…] a show that had been off the air for nine months, a show that couldn’t muster strong ratings after a big launch. Thus far the show’s averaged a dismal 1.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic […]
