There was no better news in week two. The new TV series attracted a poor 1.5 in the demo with 5.69 million. That’s a decline of 17% in the demo and the show already couldn’t afford to lose any points. It’s looking like this may be one of NBC’s first cancellations of the season.
Season average: 1.6 demo with 5.87 million.
Episode 01-01: Thursday, 9/22/11
Though it looked like it would be one of the stronger shows on the NBC schedule, the viewers don’t seem to agree. The first episode registered a disappointing 1.8 in the 18-49 demographic and just 6.05 million viewers. It was in third (last) place for the timeslot. What’s more, many viewers turned the program off before the episode finished. That’s not a good sign for next week.
On a positive note, Prime Suspect outperformed last season’s non-celebrity version of The Apprentice by 20%. That’s not much of a consolation though since that edition was a certifiable bomb.
Note: These ratings are collected by the Nielsen company and are the final national numbers. These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings and are reported on by most other outlets. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.
What do you think? Do you like the new Prime Suspect TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
Cannot believe this show has been cancelled. Story lines, writing, cast (all of them) excellent. I can name at least 5 other shows that should go but not this one. Hope another network will pick it up because it deserves to be on.
we have watched and enjoyed every episode. i hope lots of people will register their support for this good, adult show.
Are you F-ing kidding me….at last a show with some good script writing and acting…and the’re gonna cancel it……for Broke Girls, or Whitney……I just hope it gets picked up by someone else
Prime Suspect was my favorite show for this fall season…such a shame it didn’t make it. Let’s keep the reality gunk running strong. TV has become such a waste of my time. Thank goodness I got a Kindle for Christmas.
I love this show. Please do not cancel it.
Every so often we get a good drama, with believeable characters and it gets cancelled.
PLEASE BRING THIS SHOW BACK…How about on TNT???
My wife and I looked forward to watching PRIME SUSPECT each week. It was by far the best cop show on T.V. since NYPD BLUE! Maria Bello and the whole cast were begining to meld together so well and we could see the quality of their performances just get better and better. The stories were straight forward and not overly complicated but they were given life and spirite by Ms Bello and the cast.
Can we please have this quality show back?
Loved this show and Maria Bello. BRING IT BACK! It was one of few TV shows worth watching.
Husband and I look forward to this show every week ….. can’t believe that another great show is being cancelled or so close that it is nip and tuck!!! Can’t stand the junk that permeates the airwaves. Such a breathe of fresh air to have had Prime Suspect to look forward to. They already took off Detroit 187 …… loved that show too!
Please do not cancel this show. Both my husband and I looked forward to this show. The cast is GREAT. MARIA BELLO IS GREAT. What do you want us to watch – another reality show that insults us! PLEASE KEEP THIS ON …. THERE ARE NOT MANY SHOWS THAT ARE THIS GOOD…
Why are all the good shows cancelled? Prime Suspect was a very good show; I hope some other network will pick it up.
My husband & I love to watch Prime Suspect – We both think it’s a fantastic cop series – Why in the world do you want to cancel something GOOD? The cast is EXCELLENT and do a great job together – PLEASE DO NOT CANCEL THIS SERIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sincerely,
Rosalie & Danny Cascio
My husband & I both thought Prime Suspect was OUTSTANDING! We looked forward to watching it every week & so did many of our friends – Why in the world was it canceled? Prime Suspect is by far so much better then many, many, other cop series on television —– FOR GOSH SAKE BRING IT BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My husband and I are both disapointed with the cancellation of Prime Suspect. We have enjoyed watching this program and were looking forward to the New Year with new episodes. There is so little prime TV to watch that is half way decent, we will miss Detective Jane and the crew.
Sincerely,
Dorothy sampson
please don’t cancel another great drama, maybe a different nite..ot tnt, step in again..you know great darma
I love this show. PLEASE do not cancel it!!!!
