It’s 2009 all over again. The Prison Break TV show has been cancelled by FOX. Again. Although the network revived the crime drama for a limited fifth season, there will be no season six, at least not in the near future. FOX CEO Gary Newman did tell Deadline the network is open to future installments, however. Newman noted that, if the producers “came back” with an idea for another season down the line, the network could be open to it.
An action thriller, Prison Break stars Wentworth Miller, Dominic Purcell, Sarah Wayne Callies, Mark Feuerstein, Amaury Nolasco, Robert Knepper, Rockmond Dunbar, Paul Adelstein, Augustus Prew, Rick Yune, and Inbar Lavi.
The FOX TV series revolves around Michael Scofield (Miller), who vowed to help his brother Lincoln Burrows (Purcell), escape from death row.
Prison Break: A Look at the Ratings
The fifth season of Prison Break averaged a 1.03 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 2.82 million viewers. It landed near the middle of the pack, among FOX TV shows where its demo is concerned, and in the lower third, in terms of total audience size.
Although they wrote the revival as a single season story, the writers had said additional seasons were possible. Apparently, the mediocre ratings did not tempt the network to order more for the 2017-18 season.

I dont think there should be another season. I feel like it should have ended at season 4, as it is difficult to create a new season when the bar was set so high. I feel like season 5 wasn’t as good and a season 6 wouldn’t turn out too well as season 4 ended there with michael gone because thats how it should have been.
I hope is going to be a saison 6 that will be a great to all the fans around the world. For me Prison break is the best show with every emotion like fighting for a life,romance Blood family…So please make us a new saison don’t stop it again give us a new story .thanks you

Keep the show on the air. Episodes are great. Put Michael and Linc as under cover agents somehow , or let the writers do their ” thing”.
There is absolutely no reason to Cancel this show, or any others for that matter, based on Ratings. There are so many people that watch shows in a different way than they did back in 2009. There is so much junk on tv now, that I dont buy any TV service. I watch Prison Break on TV, cause its free on FOX, but I also purchase all the episodes on VUDU. I don’t have cable, so I buy episodes of The Walking Dead on Xbox M&TV. I bought Taboo on VUDU, episode by episode. I specifically bought the Showtime streaming… Read more »
Best show I have ever seen and needs to be brought back for another season. The only explanation for how the show doesn’t have insanely high amount of viewers would be that people record and watch it the next day because of the late airing time.
Thats exactly my thoughts, i work afternoons so i always have to record all of my shows and watch them at a later time, that or watch it the day after on Hulu. This new season didnt let me down at all. Great story once again and i just love watching the Miller/Purcell duo. Theyre the reason I watched Legends of Tomorrow too. It just works. I binged watched the entire 5 Seasons. This is one of the best shows I’ve ever watched. Why do all the good shows get taken off the air? How are you getting your demographics? Ratings should come from the cable companies directly. Who is watching live; who is DVRing the show; who is watching on other platforms, such as Netflix, Hulu or the FoxNow app. I’ve never been asked to put Nielsen boxes in my home. Please don’t cancel this show!!
