It’s 2009 all over again. The Prison Break TV show has been cancelled by FOX. Again. Although the network revived the crime drama for a limited fifth season, there will be no season six, at least not in the near future. FOX CEO Gary Newman did tell Deadline the network is open to future installments, however. Newman noted that, if the producers “came back” with an idea for another season down the line, the network could be open to it.
An action thriller, Prison Break stars Wentworth Miller, Dominic Purcell, Sarah Wayne Callies, Mark Feuerstein, Amaury Nolasco, Robert Knepper, Rockmond Dunbar, Paul Adelstein, Augustus Prew, Rick Yune, and Inbar Lavi.
The FOX TV series revolves around Michael Scofield (Miller), who vowed to help his brother Lincoln Burrows (Purcell), escape from death row.
Prison Break: A Look at the Ratings
The fifth season of Prison Break averaged a 1.03 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 2.82 million viewers. It landed near the middle of the pack, among FOX TV shows where its demo is concerned, and in the lower third, in terms of total audience size.
Although they wrote the revival as a single season story, the writers had said additional seasons were possible. Apparently, the mediocre ratings did not tempt the network to order more for the 2017-18 season.

first the story should continue in the 5th season i think… maybe more allies a bigger story with more actions not just 9 episodes for a revenge for example Mahone from a federal agent he became Michael’s ally…Ideas for the next season, Lincoln made smth illegal and they got in trouble or Michael did smth wrong and Linc should try to help him he couldn’t and stuff .. u got a lot of opportunities make prison break greater…. like 1-3 seasons there was actually a lot of wrong actions or some dicisively actions…. 2.8 million viewers! WHY WOULD YOU CANCEL??? That’s not like 500 viewers!! It should be obvious that 2.8 million people LOVE and their family LOVE this show and most are dedicated watchers!!! Definitely renew for another season or THREE 🙂
PLEASE RENEW! The first few episodes of season 5 may have thrown some people off and detoured them from watching other episodes as it was a slower start to the season but now in the middle of the season the episodes are picking up and are GREAT!! PLEASE RENEW for season 6!!!!!! My Family and I LOVE this show and we definitely want to see more!!!1
This show is honestly amazing. There was not a single episode I didn’t like for this season. Apart from the 1st season, this is my second favourite one. Make a season 6 please

I loved all the episodes/seasons and was super excited when I seen it was coming back on. And in a blink of an eye it’s cancelled. Please keep it going my family and I love this show
Ugh so frustrating I find a show I like and I love that it was brought back and you only give it one season?!? Sometimes shows need another season to see if they will rise in ratings jeez! I love the unpredictablity of it yeah I mean Michael is always gunna win but the twists and turn to get there are what makes it so interesting!
It averaged 2.82 million viewers. It might not be a blockbuster on network TV, but if a cable station picked it up, like Nashville, it would certainly be a big hit! Let’s hope for some intelligent executives at some of those other networks.
