It’s 2009 all over again. The Prison Break TV show has been cancelled by FOX. Again. Although the network revived the crime drama for a limited fifth season, there will be no season six, at least not in the near future. FOX CEO Gary Newman did tell Deadline the network is open to future installments, however. Newman noted that, if the producers “came back” with an idea for another season down the line, the network could be open to it.
An action thriller, Prison Break stars Wentworth Miller, Dominic Purcell, Sarah Wayne Callies, Mark Feuerstein, Amaury Nolasco, Robert Knepper, Rockmond Dunbar, Paul Adelstein, Augustus Prew, Rick Yune, and Inbar Lavi.
The FOX TV series revolves around Michael Scofield (Miller), who vowed to help his brother Lincoln Burrows (Purcell), escape from death row.
Prison Break: A Look at the Ratings
The fifth season of Prison Break averaged a 1.03 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 2.82 million viewers. It landed near the middle of the pack, among FOX TV shows where its demo is concerned, and in the lower third, in terms of total audience size.
Although they wrote the revival as a single season story, the writers had said additional seasons were possible. Apparently, the mediocre ratings did not tempt the network to order more for the 2017-18 season.

My husband and I loved this show when it was on before. Then when they brought it back was great! Now I am sad that they cancelled it again! I really hope they bring it back!

My daughter and I have loved this show from the beginning. We watched every season & every episode. When we heard Prison Break was returning in 2017, we were so excited and watched this last one throughout the whole season. Only to get a taste of it returning and now being cancelled all over again. We were looking forward to watching the upcoming season and now it is such a let down without its return. By far Prison Break has been one of the best shows I have ever watched. I love Wentworth Miller. I love MS. I could never get enough of MS. Fox is a piece of the **** network station. I hope some other network decides to renew Prison Break for a sixth and seventh season.
Even though I didn’t watch the first four seasons when it was on TV, I decided to watch season 5 and I was hooked. I had to find out how it all started, so I recently binge watched (and I mean every waking moment that I wasn’t at work or HAD to run an errand, I even stayed up to the wee hours on the weekend, etc) the first four seasons of Prison Break on Netflix and after it was over (and I know this sounds weird, but…) I felt like I’m missing a part of my life. I couldn’t agree more! I just can’t get enough of MS. I started from season one almost a week ago. I’ve been stuck ever since. I]m on season five, episode six. Now that it’s almost over, I just don’t know what to do with myself.
We need more prison break! I just recently watched all 4 seasons on Netflix & I was hooked from the get but boy did it upset me how it ended ..Michael (Wentworth) is too handsome & a good guy to be killed off & plus it would’ve been better with a happy ending! I have watched prison break since it first started airing on FOX. Season 4 ending did not sit right with me, and neither did season 5! We need to see more of Sara, Michael, and Mike finally being a family after all this time! There are a hundred different ways you could spin another season off the ending season 5 had. Always been my favorite show & I am devastated they have cancelled yet again! COME ON FOX. Ratings don’t matter when there are apps, DVR, and all other sorts of ways to watch the series!
RENEW, RENEW, RENEW Please…My just turned teen boys watched the new series with me every week as I had explained the first series to them and I can’t wait for more of the entire cast!!! I am getting them to now watch the first series on Netflix.

I have watched since the beginning and was extremely upset not to see the show continue and have such a long break. I’m disappointed yet again after seeing after all this time there was a new season, to just be canceled yet again.
Completely disappointed, loved this show and the characters! This is why I never get into shows anymore!

Prison break was a great show in 2009 and still a great show, Fox stop messing with my show please.
So lame! What do ratings really mean in a world of DVRs and such. Bring it back!
