It’s 2009 all over again. The Prison Break TV show has been cancelled by FOX. Again. Although the network revived the crime drama for a limited fifth season, there will be no season six, at least not in the near future. FOX CEO Gary Newman did tell Deadline the network is open to future installments, however. Newman noted that, if the producers “came back” with an idea for another season down the line, the network could be open to it.
An action thriller, Prison Break stars Wentworth Miller, Dominic Purcell, Sarah Wayne Callies, Mark Feuerstein, Amaury Nolasco, Robert Knepper, Rockmond Dunbar, Paul Adelstein, Augustus Prew, Rick Yune, and Inbar Lavi.
The FOX TV series revolves around Michael Scofield (Miller), who vowed to help his brother Lincoln Burrows (Purcell), escape from death row.
Prison Break: A Look at the Ratings
The fifth season of Prison Break averaged a 1.03 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 2.82 million viewers. It landed near the middle of the pack, among FOX TV shows where its demo is concerned, and in the lower third, in terms of total audience size.
Although they wrote the revival as a single season story, the writers had said additional seasons were possible. Apparently, the mediocre ratings did not tempt the network to order more for the 2017-18 season.

This show was such a success, why end it? They could make a season about Sara and michael how they finally have peace. Then something terrible
Happens. They can do SO much with the show and have everyone in love. I am so in love with this tv show and would hate to see it end.

EXTREMELY mad at Fox. This is an iconic series that has characters who are so sharply drawn we can remember them 7 years later. The only drama I’ve watched in years.

i honestly dint know if fox is being smart the have cancelled their best 2 shows which are “Prison Break” and “Rosewood” shows with worse ratings have been given another chance for example Quantico was great 1st season the 2nd ratings went down almost 50% along with viewers and abc was smart to give it another chance because ratings started going up just a little but not much yet fox is taking away their best show “Prison Break” i think you need to read everybody’s opinions and thoughts i had my hopes of “Prison Break” returning and so did many… Read more »
Absolutely love Prison Break and have been a huge fan from the very beginning!! 9 episodes just isn’t enough for me and would love another season!!
What? This was just as good as before. Even better with more suspense. I watched it every week. I couldnot wait for this revival. It met my high expectations. I love that they play brothers in two different programs. They have such charisma and complement each other so well. I was so excited for another season because this season was so great. Please, reconsider this cancellation. We need this good program. We need APB too. Thanks
Very disappointed in this. I found Prison Break accidentely on NetFlix and binged watched the whole 100 shows in just a few days. I LOVED it! Was so excited to see it back on and this is such a talented cast and the story line is fantastic. I don’t think it should be canceled. Tired of all the good ones being shut down and some of the garbage being renewed. Think is a big mistake.

I’m really mad. This show is incredible, and honestly the 5th season has been just as or even more entertaining than the first season which had fantastic ratings. They really need to reconsider. With all the people who have binge watched prison break on Netflix, I find it very very unlikely Fox can find a more popular show with a stronger fan base. Seriously, wtf Fox. You get everyone hyped for this new season that actually lived up to the hype, and then cancel it. Please can u just be intelligent for once and reconsider this horrid decision
