It’s 2009 all over again. The Prison Break TV show has been cancelled by FOX. Again. Although the network revived the crime drama for a limited fifth season, there will be no season six, at least not in the near future. FOX CEO Gary Newman did tell Deadline the network is open to future installments, however. Newman noted that, if the producers “came back” with an idea for another season down the line, the network could be open to it.
An action thriller, Prison Break stars Wentworth Miller, Dominic Purcell, Sarah Wayne Callies, Mark Feuerstein, Amaury Nolasco, Robert Knepper, Rockmond Dunbar, Paul Adelstein, Augustus Prew, Rick Yune, and Inbar Lavi.
The FOX TV series revolves around Michael Scofield (Miller), who vowed to help his brother Lincoln Burrows (Purcell), escape from death row.
Prison Break: A Look at the Ratings
The fifth season of Prison Break averaged a 1.03 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 2.82 million viewers. It landed near the middle of the pack, among FOX TV shows where its demo is concerned, and in the lower third, in terms of total audience size.
Although they wrote the revival as a single season story, the writers had said additional seasons were possible. Apparently, the mediocre ratings did not tempt the network to order more for the 2017-18 season.

Please don’t cancel prison break again! I was so happy that it came back for a fifth season and am now into it again. This is the best show ever and had to wait 8 years for it to come back! I have no idea y this show is being cancelled again…me n my hubby r loyal watchers every night n if we can’t watch it at that time we dvo it n record it so we don’t miss an episode..this is my hubby favorite show n the only show he gets so worked up about watching n now a show that we both love n enjoy rhat we watch together is being cancelled..this is such a shame we need more seasons of prison break…it’s not fair think about the ppl who also watch n love the show instead of the… Read more »
Prison Break is a great show….. and against my prior thoughts that the revival would lessen the overall ending of season 4 they have done a great job. It is the best show on Tv right now with no walking dead to watch… please reconsider season 6
There has not been anything worth watching on FOX for sometime, and I was happy they brought back Prison Break, but Tuesday night at 9:00 was a bad day choice, since it’s opposite of BULL & Izombie. I DVR everything, but always watched BULL first, Chicago Fire at 10:00, and watched Prison Break and Izombie on Wednesday. Wasn’t Prison Break originally on Friday’s for awhile, and I think it was on Sunday for awhile also. I can’t totally remember, but those 2 days come to mind, but Tuesday was a bad choice FOX.
I really love this show. I have watched it from the get go. Please give it another chance. The characters are outstanding. The way that MICHAEL SCOFIELD’S mind works is just amazing. I hate to hear that the show will be canceled.
This show is absolutely amazing. Every episode draws you in and you can’t wait to see what they are going to do next!

There has to be a sixth season. You have an opportunity to turn this into an amazing franchise with the audience it picked up since it returned. If you drop this show, another network will pick it up.
Omg! My fiance and I just cannot understand why Fox is cancelling it again! This show is by far one of the best ones ever wrote, and we truly believe the viewing demos are not correct. Barely anyone we know actually watches the show live, they either record it or watch it on other avenues. In this day and age, watching live TV is just not the norm. Aftering waiting 8yrs for this half season was torturous, and waiting again now for a possibility is heartbreaking.
