Court will soon be adjourned for the Mark-Paul Gosselaar drama, Raising the Bar. TNT has decided to cancel the series after two seasons but, there may still be more to come.
From executive producer Steven Bochco, Raising the Bar revolves around a group of law school classmates who work on opposite sides of the courtroom. The drama’s cast includes Gosselaar, Gloria Reuben, Currie Graham, Melissa Sagemiller, J. August Richards, Jonathan Scarfe, Teddy Sears, Jane Kaczmarek, Stacy Hall, Natalia Cigliuti, Paul Joyner, Wayne Lopez, Jon Polito, and Angel Oguendo.
Back on September 1, 2008, the series premiere attracted 7.7 million viewers. That set a record for TNT as the biggest audience for a new series launch on regular cable. Unfortunately, much of the audience didn’t return for later episodes which averaged 5.5 million. Despite an early decline, TNT renewed the series for a second season.

On June 8th, season two of Raising the Bar attracted just 3.6 million and shed half of the audience of its lead-in, The Closer.
As a result of the low ratings, the cable channel has cancelled the legal drama. Via a statement, a TNT representative said, “Everyone at TNT had a great experience working on Raising the Bar with Steven Bochco and the rest of the show’s terrific cast and crew. We’re proud of the series and appreciate the efforts of all of the creative people who were involved. Unfortunately, ratings for Raising the Bar’s second season did not reach the levels required for TNT to renew the series.”
TNT had opted to split the second season into two parts. The first dozen episodes finished airing on August 24th. That leaves three episodes on the shelf. It was expected that they would air in early 2010 but they haven’t been given airdates yet.

I think it is a shame that this show has been cancelled. Hopefully another network will pick it up. Steven Botchco is extremely talented and the cast superb!
My husband and i are huge fans of Rasing the Bar!!!! They shouldn’t have cancelled it! They should have a look at the other lame shows out there!!!
Go ABC! Pick this show up! My friends, family, and I will watch it. Great writing and insight into a side of legal system seldom seen or understood. Excellent cast! Please pick it up ABC!
Miss the show dearly! Looked forward to it each week. Just found out it had been cancelled. I’m very upset! What a great show! Bring it back somebody.
It might be going back on the air. It seems that ABC bought the rights to it.
Really liked the show as well, I would get excited and looked forward to watching it, I wish they would bring it back. maybe do better advertsing or something. Nobody really knew about the show.
It was the best new show on TV. I was extremely disappointed that it was cancelled. With all the Reality crap on TV that continues on and on and on, it just shows the mentality of the majority of viewers. I think TNT needs to re-think this decision. I don’t care for much of what’s on TV and I am sick to death of Reality TV. The show was unique and the cast was extremely talented. I want to vote to try it again!! I agree with everyone else. Everytime I find a show that is really good, both with actors and writers, it seems inevitable that somewhere down the road it will get canceled. This show is not far from the truth in real life, but it was entertaining. I looked forward to watching it, and there aren’t many other shows I can say that for. If this show were promoted a little more heavily in the right time slot, it could be a big hit. Please bring it back for those of us who loved the show and would like to see… Read more »

Why Not I would Cancell it to. It was a great show for once that was on TV u guys can let law and order run and other shows with the same S$$T week after week Day after day but when ya get something good on it drops in ratings u dump it. It was a great show and it put a whole different perspective on the Judicial system. I agree with the previous comment. Just because it doesn’t have sex and blood, does not mean it wasn’t a good show. It was not promoted enough. It’s rare to find a clean, family show that isn’t far fetched from reality. TNT should consider atleast airing the final 3 episodes for the faithful viewers!!!

This is bs. We love that show. Have been looking forward to it for a while now. We saw Gloria Rueben on law and order: svu and when we checked for when our favorite show was coming back, we were astonished to see it was canceled. This is almost as bad as when Studio 60 got canceled. Please TNT, BRING IT BACK!!!!!
