The AMC series has not been performing well in the ratings but, according to a listing in the Backstage industry casting paper, Rubicon has been renewed for year two. Here’s their info:
Rubicon (Drama, AMC) A think-tank analyst comes to the realization that his colleagues are not who he thought they were and may be a part of a covert organization secretly manipulating world politics and affairs. James Badge Dale stars. Casting: Avy Kaufman Casting, 180 Varick St., 16th Fl., New York, NY 10014. Premiered Aug. 1. Renewed.
Last Sunday’s episode attracted just a 0.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 997,000 total viewers. That pales when compared to AMC’s Mad Men which scored a 0.6 demo rating and 2.1 million viewers.
The Backstage listing seems like it’s most likely a typo or error because, for now, they seem to be the only one saying there will be another year.
The season finale of Rubicon, “You Can Never Win,” is set to air next Sunday on AMC.
What do you think? Would you like to see Rubicon return for another year or should it be cancelled?

Great show, but you need to actually listen and pay attention. Sad to say with today’s reality driven audiences, its doomed! Shame.
I LOVED THE SHOW AND THOUGHT IT WAS VERY, VERY TIMELY.
ESPECIALLY SINCE FRANCE WAS JUST ALERTED TO A POSSIBLE
TERRORIST ATTACK YESTERDAY. THE CHARACTERS ARE ALL
WELL DEVELOPED AND OFFER SO MANY POSSIBILITIES.
RENEW!!!!!!!
Rubicon is smart, intelligent, make-you-think television with an outstanding cast. Superb writing I look forward to Sunday night television again thanks to Rubicon and Mad Men. Thank you, AMC, for standing by viewers who truly appreciate great programming.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE bring Rubicon back! This is my absolute favorite show on television.
Absolutely renew. I loved the low key verisimilitude of really smart people just reading and making world-altering decisions.
love this show. I can’t wait for season 2. Can’t figure out why everybody isn’t watching this show……bring on more API and Will Travers……
Excellent show, brainy, shows respect for an intelligent viewership. I am 63 and have seen a lot of shows but this one is so well written and keeps you on edge. Yes the pace is slow but that just adds to the buildup of the suspense. Please bring it back for a second season.
I love this how…please keep it on. It is one of those shows that grows on you.
Its a good show but it takes total concentration to keep up with the cerebral nature of the story line. Yeah, renew it, but these 13 week series with 9 or 10 months until the next episode are for the birds. How can you expect to attract and keep viewers if you have so few episodes. Like bury the zombies and do more of Rubicon…play it out for a season or two and then do the zombies.
renew!
Hi, please DO renew this series. I have become so emotionally invested in this series that I cringe to think of a world without it. More fans will come; give it another chance/series!
I was interested in Rubicon from the time I saw the sneak preview. As the season progressed, I was captivated by what would happen next. Furthermore I am intrigued by some of the characters, especially Truxton Spangler… I think he is so perfectly cast for his role, it’s uncanny… and I hope he is not going to be killed off. He is one of the many reason why I feel the show has to return next year… there is too much hanging in the balance. I do know that I have friends who are not watching the show live, but… Read more »
I agree Frank G. It is a shame we do not see more sophistcated drama such as this series. I appreciate the fact you have to actually have to think .
I myself study Icons and media sources that possibly contain subliminal messages or are ambigrams, calligrams that possibly have other meaning than the typography itself.
Check this out for example . http://www.flickr.com/photos/54928600@N07/ It may seem over the top but if theses logos were puzzles I could get these two possible solutions.
Anyway, I would enjoy seeing this series continue to a second season.
Love it! Please renew
YES, renew Rubicon – best new show and I love the pacing and atmosphere of the show – almost too good for American television…AMC would be wise to renew and let it’s audience find it.
